Love the built in seating. Can you tell me what wood is used and the dimensions? Thanks.

The wood used was cedar. We used 3" x 12" solid pieces for the bench seat. Bench legs were 2"x10" (x2) if I recall with a cedar face board below the top seat member. This was built with the deck and bench posts were attached to the deck framing below.

Dear Lydia, I think would be best to place the sofa facing the window or if you plan to get more than one, I would put one in the middle two on the sides. I have seen a similar kitchen to your earlier, and the sofa was facing the feature wall with the large windows. It looked stylish, well organised and overall it was a great atmosphere in the open plan kitchen. Turning the sofa towards the kitchen side-I rather see it as making out a kitchen of the entire space. Be creative when picking furniture, after you still have the ability to move them around. I really like the green and your sofa choice is super. But I think the layout needs a change because firstly it’s I pity to have the best bits in the same place- so the window and sofa should be separated, plus you need to resolve the problem that the TV height is only suitable for people on ladders. So I have a suggestion of an alternative layout

Building seating over a radiator

I have built in seating around radiators in both my sitting room and hallway and we have triple glazing and external insulation. The seats are designed to be able to lift the covers to let heat out if needed. It’s comfy to sit in and we have not had issues with heat build up. The rads are not as efficient this way for sure but we have had no issues with the areas being cold as a result.
