Bathroom upgrade -replace old or new tiles?
Comments (3)Even if you find the same tiles, I doubt they would be identical. I would probably splurge for new tile in the entire bathroom. If that is not an option, you could replace only the tile in the actual shower with an accent or something that really pops. Use that colour for the accents in your bathroom as well! If you decide on the latter, I would just be sure that the tiles you choose for the shower are a different shape from the ones in the remainder of the bathroom. That way it will really stand out. Comments (18)Hi, I'd definitely keep your feature bath. This can be painted in a nice Fired Earth Eggshell finish. I can't comment on your basin or wc, as I can't see them and have no idea what condition they are in? I'd tile the floor, shower areas and window reveals. I'd suggest upstands (skirting tiles) around the rest of the bathroom, then you can add some nice colour to your bathroom your painted bath will be a lovely feature. Have a look at some of my photosets which may give you some inspiration. Having said all this, I think your budget is unrealistic. The most important component in your new bathroom is the person who undertakes the work and this will cost you money. Good luck with your project. Comments (15)Chris, We have the same shower tray as you (but in the 150cm format) and also exactly the same issue. I think it's a design fault as the tray is too shallow and the ridge round the edge does not contain the water. Our highly untechnical solution has been to buy shower mats which are exactly 80cm wide (from Christy on their website) and then to accept that they will get soaked and to dry them on the heated towel rail. Sorry if this is not the most sophisticated solution but it works for us. Good luck...See Morereplacing tiles in shower area
Comments (8)I never thought about changing the tiles behind the sink area to start in a corner- that’s a good idea! I am looking to replace the sink as well with a wall hung vanity unit to give more storage. I’ve realised that the new shower will extend forward a couple of centimetres from the existing one so hopefully it might fall on the ‘join’ line if we decide to retile just that area. Thanks for the tip re replacing all the grout...See Moresandra
