what is the flooring in this photo ? ceramic ? what style and color ?

and what is the name of the granite ?

also if my home is an open concept and the woodwork is white can the kitchen cabinets be a different color or should it be the same as the trim color in the house ?

I saw this kitchen in a magazine recently and finally found it here on Houzz. Love the bold colors and open airy feel to the whole house- this would be my dream kitchen (house) if I had the $$$ to redesign or build from scratch. We are having ours replaced next Monday. Like you I agonised for ages as I wanted something a bit more special. I found Cerberus it at, a lovely family owned company with amazing products. Not cheap, but their doors are beautifully crafted . If you could visit the showroom do it, the website pictures do not show the actual quality and beauty. What flooring to put down over existing white ceramic tiling...

Hi, Is there anything that makes you think it would be difficult to remove and replace the existing tiles? It looks like you have a wall hung wc pan (hard to tell in the photos), so no problem with that, and the tiled bath panel helps as well. If there was electric underfloor heating then it would make sense to avoid lifting the existing but otherwise its the best way to do it. If fitting a new floor you would want to have new sealant to the perimeter of the room, floors to wall, anyway so that would cover any join between the new floor and existing walls. Personally I would remove and replace with whatever you like, tiles amtico etc. etc. Then you have a brand new floor that you know will last. Sheet vinyl over the top of the existing will show the indentations of the existing grout lines and anything else will add unnecessary height to the threshold and may be uneven. Good luck with the work and make sure to post up photos when its all done.

Going for a white sofa would help create a light and airy living room. The white sofa would match the airy elements you already have in the room: the light pastel wallpaper and blue chimney heart, the white skirting, the light coloured wooden flooring. The black of the fireplace hearth can be tied together with details like black legs for the white sofa, black legs (maybe hair pin legs) for a white coffee table or for a cabinet (cabinets with legs look very smart: https://www.buzzfeed.com/alisoncaporimo/legs-for-days). Black cross legged lounge chair & ottoman in a navy blue would match the navy curtains. See through furniture helps for an uncluttered feel: transparent chairs, glass table, thin furniture legs, x leg ottomans. The window coverings also have to be in light materials. Consider introducing flowy sheer fabric with or instead of the navy curtains. White or light pastel coloured area rugs in the room and avoid choosing area rugs featuring heavy and busy patterns. Braided area rugs in pastel and light colors also make a good selection. Some pictures below:
