Need help decorating living room
Comments (5)Hi all! I though I thought I would show you the progress on our living room. South Africa went into Covid lock-down just as I planned to start working on the room, so I had to wait a bit until some of the industries started up again. We re-covered the two bucket chairs in a dark gray colour. It came out a little bit lighter than I wanted, but it still looks good to me. I also bought a jute rug to replace the red one, I really think it makes the coffee table stand out better. I also put up some of my framed paintings and vacation pictures. This is pretty much how things will stay for a while. Future plans include: It's my husband's job to tidy up/hide all the wiring and remove some of the tech stuff in the corner, he promised it will look much better once he's done. I am hinting at buying/inheriting a vintage hospital standing lamp from my dad to place next to the leather couch, maybe I'll paint it black to match the picture frames. Some time in the future I will find some side tables and a table lamp to go next to the chairs and the wood framed couch. Another painting will also go above the couch where the newspaper placeholder is currently. Since these pictures were taken I have swapped the positions of the chairs and the wood framed couch, and to me both configurations look good, I have no preference. Any comments or suggestions are welcome!...See MoreNeed help decorating Living Room

Comments (8)Hello Celia Reis, Lots to think about... It does not matter what you have but where you place it to make it work. And what is there that make the room become one (sounds very yoda ) :) How about putting the sofa by the window. The box where the sofa was. See what that looks like? The side table in between the sofa and the chair. Add some shelving to the alcoves. Re: photos There are lots of photo places that will make photos much larger for a portrait. Group pictures together on the shelf or on the side table. You do not need to space everything out. Some questions: 1.What colour are the walls ? 2.What colours do you like ? Is there a favourite material you like that can be made into a paint colour or made into some cushions. Then use the colour throughout as accents. 3. What items did you want to repurpose? What colour ? 4. Can the cabinet fit in the alcove? 5. Does the fireplace work? 6. Do you have any larger pictures, photos ? 7. Are both lamps the same size ? What are they to be the same colour ? 8. Will there be a TV in the room ? Some pics to help. Are there any elements in these pics that help? So change the placement of furniture like in the pictures. Put everything you want in the room and play around with them. Have fun:...See MoreLiving Room Decoration Help
Comments (1)Am thinking the alcove naturally lends itself to TV position if using this idea. Elsewhere in the room and it will simply encroach on your floor space. It would mean your current lounge in it's current position would be close to the TV - but if it is a flush as possible it might just work. The sideboard might have to leave it's position and go beside the door....See Morelepstein
