Which style of bath tub do you prefer? Free standing or in a deck?
Comments (126)You can use side panels or a deck/surround to create what is, in effect, a free standing bath that would work well aesthetically and, optionally, as part of a wetroom-style bathroom. Deep soaking tubs are especially effective for such projects; they have smaller footprint, which affords more room in the shower area, but their greater depth makes them exceptionally comfortable....See MoreHouzz Live Chat - Get your garden ready for summer, May 15th at 3pm
Comments (143)Hello donned2004, Well you could remove all the things from the hearth.. So it has more space.. Hang the mirror and paint the chimney breast a nice colour to bring the fireplace into full focus.. If you wanted to have an even bigger recess.. you could open the fire out up to the sides of the wooden surround.. So taking out the 30's tiles.. Make sure the lintel is in place or doesn't need replacing and keep the surround it's rather nice.. Remove the current tiled hearth if you chose to open it out more.. and install a flat piece of slate.. So then you would have an open brick recess and a lovely iron basket could sit nicely inside for logs! Another idea to continue into the room.. might be to look at painting the woodwork a colour to compliment any wall colours you have.... Some lovely painted floorboards, or parquet or a natural Jute or Coir flooring if you have not already decided upon something.. : ))...See MorePOLL: How long do you keep your Christmas lights up for?
Comments (8)I start taking my decorations down in the days after 2nd Jan but usually leave a few bits up until 5th of January, the evening of which, I (and the Church of England) consider to be Twelfth night. It seems logical to me that Christmas Day is the first Day of Christmas, and twelfth night is the last evening before Epiphany. It doesn't make any sense to me to start counting from Boxing Day but I know lots of people believe that it is the night of Epiphany is 12th night and you hear both dates used...See MorePOLL: Were you required to make your bed while growing up?
Comments (9)Yes, I made my own bed from an early age but I loved my bedroom, with its very swish red Sanderson wallpaper, and got a lot of pleasure from it looking good. Then, as with angela thomas, came boarding school. We had to make our beds, after airing them during breakfast, using hospital corners - ready for inspection (I kid you not) before the bell rang for the start of lessons. I've recently had to buy a flat sheet (no fitted sheet available in the colour I need) so am back to doing hospital corners. They keep the sheet in position no matter how restlessly I sleep - but I don't enjoy the extra bending needed....See MoreAyegardening Ltd
