How do you accessorise your walls?
Comments (15)Art that we've collected all through our 35 yrs together. Reminds us of the where and when as well as having the enjoyment of the art. Most of them are prints, some canvas. Family photos are usually on narrow ledges (we call them ancestor shelves) in a main hallway, so they can be switched out; also because they are inexpensively framed, and more for private consumption than the artwork. Most of the surfaces in our house are uncluttered, some would say austere, so the wall art warms things up....See Morewhat type of art for this kitchen wall?
Comments (12)Put your Heart in your Art! Don't agonise! start collecting WHAT YOU LIKE ! Create an art wall, slowly, a collection starting to the left of the window & eventually going round the door & above the window & down the side. Different shapes & sizes & not just pictures. Intersperse "found" objects ..we have seen a worn bicycle leather saddle on Houzz. Think wheels, a hand mirror, painting by numbers. Don't be too prescriptive but if you want to do a collection that is fun too..say flowers, pictures of doors & windows as a nod to the space, Paris/london, portraits, architecture. Just have fun. Get started on your art wall & see where it leads & don't do it all at once!...See MoreHow to decide on a piece of Art for wall
Comments (11)I certainly don't have any genius ideas :) but I second forzaitalia's white door suggestion. You can probably 'get away with' leaving the doorframes as they are, seeing your window frames are in a natural wood colour too. You'd have to give other doors (at least the nearby one) the same treatment though, I feel. Perhaps you could also consider changing the ceiling light at some stage to make the artwork blend better still....See MoreHow to decide on a piece of Art for wall
Comments (97)I'd take this as a great opportunity to have some fun and explore making your own piece of art. From the space (that I can see), a canvas would suit being placed above, either leaned against the surface or elevated. I'd lead towards to being elevated. I'd say get a cheap canvas with some oil based paint and just try different shapes and different ways to add the paint to the canvas, don't try to make actual shapes but try blending colours (a spray drinking bottle makes an excellent tool for adding blending) in an abstract style. In term of colours, I really feel burnt orange and a mix between duck egg blue and royal blues would make a very eye-catching scheme for that area. If you do try a bit of art, make sure to send us an image! I guarantee you'll have fun doing this, and you'll be surprised how well it could turn out. Good luck!...See MoreIngrid Rasmussen Photography
