Tiny bathroom design - Help!
Comments (21)I would still suggest tanking/waterproofing the room prior to the installation of a standard shower tray or bath. Waterproofing membranes with the European Technical Approval will withstand normal movement within a house but the flooring and walls need to be of sound construction - a wetroom can be properly fitted in age of building. These principles apply to a standard tray or bath as the silicone beading around the edge may fail (from movement/age) and let wall bypass the tray, causing damage to the building underneath. This picture was taking after a bath with wall mounted shower was removed. The silicone had failed causing the wood to rot. This was all replaced and the below was created in its place: A bath will be easier for people with young children and if you plan to sell on, a wetroom will appeal to some where a bath will appeal more to others. Which ever path you choose (both your designs look nice) I would recommend waterproofing the room before it is installed. Kind Regards Mike...See MoreNeed help designing this bathroom
Comments (21)Hello Yan, wanted to show you an idea of colour scheme for your bathroom. I decided to keep up with your layout idea and I noticed you like grey and wood in interior. In addition, SA contemporary style isn't much about colours but more about textures to keep interior simple and rich. In general, interior is neutral with couple of small colour accents, which can be easily updated or changed in time. There is no drama that sink in front of window! Moreover it gives fantastic advantages to use natural light. You can hang oval mirror at the window frame. In the evening hours, you can use illumination from wall light above window. Flooring is grey brushed concrete tiles with soft matt texture. Wood like porcelain tiles use for walls from the left and right, including curves. That's how you unite broken wall on a left and make it longer and identical. Tiles for walls around window and the opposite side ( including all curves and around door) should be the same - light grey with stone like texture. Grey tone on walls is lighter than on a floor. Here are screen shots (everything is in scale, actual bathroom size): I hope concept is easy to understand, let me know if you have any questions....See MoreDesign help re super tiny bathroom
Comments (12)Hi You need to check re soil pipe - my opinion is that it is best to keep the WC as close to the soil pipe as possible to avoid unnecessary problems. You may want to opt for a free standing bath which would add glamour to the room - you can find various sizes (see link below just for an idea) https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/1650-x-750-luxury-modern-double-ended-curved-freestanding-bath Or Back to wall 1500x750 https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/orion-1500-x-750mm-small-back-to-wall-modern-square-bath?campaign=googlebase&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqIDjyp7Z3gIVVOJ3Ch1BiQfcEAQYBCABEgLdzfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds An Offset bath may allow some more flexiblity in the room as the space is rather tight. I have done two sketches - and have specifically kept away from putting the bath under the window due to soil pipe. I have proposed that you open the door outwards or maybe consider changing to a folding door as per images below If you need any further advise my design practice can help you....See MoreHelp with bathroom design
Comments (7)Hi Scott, I did a bathroom just like this a while back. We enlarged the bathroom - adding a door right off the stairs into the bathroom to make one large room. This door opens into the bathroom but the opposite way to the current way the door opens - so the door ends up against the wall when fully open rather than floating in the room. With the door this way around, itt is now easier to enter a room and you waste less floor space with space you need to use to get a person around the open door. Then we shaved off some of the wall between the toilet & the rest of the bathroom. By having a half wall, you feel like you maintain a bit of privacy in the toilet, gives you an extra wall to put plumbing into and place a sink again so your layout, and makes the room feel bigger. New Layout: Put the sink where the bath is against the new 1/2 wall. Put the bath where the sink is - butting the bath up to the shower Keep the shower where the shower is, but with a portion of the internal bathroom wall gone next to the toilet and the door opening into the bath the opposite way, you can now increase the length / size of the shower to make it more comfortable. A custom glass enclosure will be more expensive for the shower (although you may be able to find one online that will work with the measurements of your space along with a shower trey), but it will be far less expensive than trying to move the toilet (new waste plumbing) and the other plumbing inlets & outlets which feed your sink, shower & bath in the bathroom. Tip - tile the entire room - floor & walls (floor to ceiling) - easier to clean, stays nicer for longer, and looks cohesive. This plan will give you a luxurious proper functional bathroom that you will very much enjoy having. Best wishes & good luck!...See MoreMidland Home Hardware Building Centre
