I want to make roman blinds out of curtains to match a blind.
Comments (5)For my first roman blind I used a roman blind kit from Dunelm, worked out great. I then used those instructions to go on to make a further 12 (never buy a house with 5 sided bay windows!) and purchased the bits needed from terrysfabrics as mentioned by Catherine Byrne. They are really straightforward. The key is to take your time with your measurements/calculations and with ensuring your edges and rod pockets are straight....See MoreCurtains on a track or roman blinds on bay window?
Comments (20)That many blinds would be a pain to open and close on a daily basis. You'd likely end up leaving some of them closed permanently which would cut the light enormously. Consider curtains that hang from the flat wall above the archway, in front of the whole bay window. When open they could hang on either side of the opening, meaning no loss of light. It would definitely make the room smaller when closed but would be a lovely 'wall of fabric', closing off any clutter on your dressing table....See Moreblinds and curtains blinds and curtains
Comments (4)Hello. I'm not sure if I am in right place but I just didn't find a topic about DYI windows blinds so maybe it would be useful not only for me. I and my wife after a year finally finished our home rework. Of course, there still is a lot of work to do, but at least now we can live there :huray: . The first thing that annoys us a lot is disturbing morning sun. We can't get enough sleep, because of it. So we started looking for windows blinds. So far we decided that we want roller blinds. But after long research, we find out that there is an option to get customized blinds and even create our own. There is one of the links where you can do it: https://www.blindsonwindows.com/diy-roller-blinds. So now there is a question, is anyone has tried it, or something similar and maybe could share their thoughts about quality and is it even worth it?...See MoreBlind instead of curtains
Comments (9)We have blinds in our living space and snug. Simple thermal roller blinds in one area so they don’t block any light & we found they made a big difference to heat retention in the winter. We have a Roman blind in our snug. It’s fitted outside of the window recess and above the window enough to avoid blocking light when pulled up. It looks like you also have plenty of space for a Roman blind to be fitted above the window (eg 6-8 inches above) so that when it’s pulled up it won’t cover much of the window. For us, the Roman blind is more decorative but the roller blinds are also great in our living area for a minimalist look as you barely notice them when up. We spent nearly 2 years without window coverings as we’re not overlooked but installed them to prevent heat loss in winter which makes a big difference. We do also have curtains covering patio doors in each of those rooms so didn’t want to overload on curtains....See MoreAlf Onnie Curtains & Blinds
