Time to predict colour of the year for 2017!
Comments (12)I have never been aware of following a trend, although I have noticed how difficult it is sometimes to get an article I (or my mother) wanted, in the colour I wanted or combination of colours I wanted. I know I never went in for a beige or cream carpet, over the years I have had gold, pale green, pale aqua blue, not forgetting burgundy and grey before it became universal, I am unsure why I have gone for these colours at different times, but I do know I haven't tried to follow any trends, I have just followed my nose and enjoyed myself....See MoreWhich is your Colour of the Year for 2017: Greenery or Denim Drift?

Comments (213)With much excitement the Dulux panel, after reviewing all the creative entries for the Colour Picker competition, have selected their winner! ‘Summer in Cornwall’ is a beautiful and calming collection of muted blues. The use of tonal colour is very on trend and also features Denim Drift- The Dulux colour of the year! The title of the collection, ‘Summer in Cornwall’, the styling of the selected room set and the combination of the restful blue colour palette, echoes the recurring theme of our 2017 Colour Futures trends, about yearning for real experiences, the importance of treasuring simple and genuine things in life and re-connects us with mother nature’s very own colour palette....See MoreLight or darker blue feature wall in hallway?!
Comments (8)Thank you everyone, lots of food for thought @honeypoppet - I never knew this design technique existed, I’m worried it would look a bit too funky for my simple house and I think the radiator would get in the way of the beautiful ombré effect @yasminchopin - I never thought to use a piece of art, I thought to put up pictures but actually the art would bring the colours together. The radiator issue, and now that you’ve mentioned it, it really does stick out like a sore thumb but I could almost see past it with the wall half painted. And the more I stare at it the more it does seem to take away from the balance of the wall even with something hung above it @minnie & grouse - I never thought of that, it would have been a great idea! we’ve just repainted the bannisters from a dark mahogany stained colour to all white, I didn’t think to change the handrails, I might have to see how far time and budget allow as the carpets are going in next week As the walls are half painted I might complete it in a colour just to get a full visual and appease my soul that I took the right decision! then finally decide either way, but please do keep any last minute ideas coming, I’m certainly learning a thing or two along the way...See MoreRohan Shah
