There is a stacked washer/dryer within the first floor utility room.

First Floor: Entry/Kitchen/Open Living-Dining-Family/Powder Room/Laundry-Utility

Second Floor: 1 Bedroom Room/Full Bath/Loft overlooking first floor.

as a main home, which is what we want, I would need a larger laundry room, hoping to some day get with you to draw up some plans. Looking for the land at the moment, he went over the information you sent me back in 2013, took awhile but we both love what we see of the house.

Can anybody advise/offer comments on the below: We are looking to add a utility room to our ground floor (soon to be extended) off the main hallway. What dimensions are ideal for a utility room with a washer and dryer, sink and some storage cabinets? The utility room would also be the place that I would store all my cleaning items (liquids, mop, bucket etc) and the household hoover too. Any ideas for wall/shelf storage for these items? Thanks.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's great to have some replies and I appreciate your time. I know it would make sense to have the shower with the toilet but my other half is a landscape garden and comes in from work covered in cement etc. The idea is that he has a seat by the door to put his dirty boots under, throw his clothes in a laundry basket and step into the shower. That way all mess is contained so when visitors come they don't have to see it but can use the WC. Two washing machines- one for filthy work clothes and one for my nice work clothes. We both work late hours and leave a lot of washing to be weekend. Also if one breaks down due to dirt, cement, occasional nails, we have a spare. I thought about stacking them but thought it might look imposing in such a small space and singly would give me more worktop space. Can I squeeze it all in?

Hmm the excavating the floor seems unnecessary- All plumbing for a washing machine can be above the floor. I suppose there is an argument to put a drain in the floor in case of a flood but you can alternatively tank the room for the same reason. I think putting a laundry room upstairs is a brilliant idea. You might decide to create room for more appliances- I think that there is an argument for some than one washer and dryer if you have space. You might also consider room for a steam cupboard, a clothes rail and room for an ironing board to be up all the time. You might even put a TV point in there too.
