Arrrrrrrr front door dilemma!
Comments (10)Hi Kerrul, I'd definitely go for a more traditional door - and timber is enormously durable and secure! The last image you've shown is not (as far as I'm aware) a traditional 1920's style door - the proportions were generally in thirds; with a top sold panel of timber or glass of 1/3rd, and the bottom section of 2/3rds often in linear panels. However, if it is just a storm porch before getting to the main front door, then perhaps all of it could be glazed, with a central glazed French door, and allow clear sight lines to your original timer front door? Good luck with it all! K :)...See MoreFront door dilemma
Comments (4)Hello Michelle - it would be great to get an image of the existing front door. I would paint the front door either Farrow and Ball Railings (see image) or if your adventurous trying adding your favourite colour. I like blues with red bricks for a fun contrast try Farrow and Ball - Drawing Room Blue (see image)...See MoreFront door dilemma?!
Comments (4)Hi, generally best to stick with symmetrical glazing ( i.e. Not just one long window on one side). For a front door the glazing should be no taller than the solid panel area unless it is stained or opaque glass. A panel door will look correct, either four or six panel ( of which two are glazed) would be the conventional route. The nickel will suit a painted finish rather than natural wood which suits a darker ironmongery material such as antique bronze or black. It is probably more common to pair a natural oak door with an Oak framed porch and this as a default will normally look good....See MoreFront Door Dilemma
Comments (7)Great improvement on the old door already. I’m sure Downpipe will look great especially on the outside. Also against the yellowy wall colour. Will you paint the inside the same colour?...See Moreteenytinyhouse
