Our Kitchen Design - what's wrong with it?
Comments (64)Although the kitchen is white, it is set into a return where there is little direct light from the very large window which casts shadows in the space making even a white kitchen look sombre by contrast. I would suggest more powerful down lights at least 13W that would highlight and reflected off the stunning gloss units. Additionally you could add plinth lighting under the kitchen units. Cool white to keep it minimalist or RGB ribbon (red, green, blue, which would allow you to colour mix) which can give the kitchen a whole spectrum of characters depending on the colour you choose or both RGB and W to keep your options open. Ribbon light is also a low cost way to improve this space. Ensure you get nothing lower than 9W per metre as it may not have enough light output against the natural light from the window....See MoreHelp choosing door handles and light switches etc.
Comments (9)So you know I bought a single 'click deco' brand dolly light switch a while back and found it to be pretty poor quality so it was returned. Ended up with these: http://www.forbesandlomax.com/the-unlacquered-brass-range.html Really good quality and they have lovely finishes too. I quite like their antique bronze range too as it contrasts nicely with chrome/nickel finishes without clashing. If you'd really like everything to match then take a look at the Jim Lawrence range. They're not the cheapest but offer both light switches and door furniture in a large selection of finishes. They also do the narrow style of light switches which I think looks really elegant in older houses. https://www.jim-lawrence.co.uk/door-window/door-handles-door-knobs/bromley-handle-with-bristol-keyhole-backplate-in-510201bw?returnurl=%2fdoor-window%2fdoor-handles-door-knobs%2f%3fcount%3d36 https://www.jim-lawrence.co.uk/1-gang-dolly-architrave-switch-in-chrome-with-3279chniz https://www.jim-lawrence.co.uk/2-gang-black-dolly-switch-bevelled-plate/...See MoreKitchen drawer handles
Comments (13)Hi, In our professional opinion if you were unhappy with the position of the handles we would take the drawer handles off, fill the holes, Then respray the drawer fronts and re attach the handles in the position you want. Comments (56)Was reading back over earlier comments and it's funny because most of you guys like either the black or copper. LOL. Now no-one likes the black :o( I know most of you like the bronze - but I really don't. Sorry! Antique brass is nice but can't see to find any of the knobs I like in that tone as they only do the bronze or brushed brass/silver/matt black. Thought I was doing well to narrow the choice down but now you have all thrown me, LOL. trouble makers ;o) The reason I wanted black is because I didn't want handles at all. Thought this would be a discreet way of making them look less obvious. The shaker style looks beautiful and for me, better without handles but that wasn't an option for this style of unit I chose so I have to have them. I think if I don't go for black then I might have to go for silver (brushed or burnished if I can find any). Something I didn't want - but actually it will tie in with the rest of the appliances and then not clash with whatever splash-back I choose?...See MoreCarolina
