Pendant lights over island bench?
Comments (8)Hello Stella, Okay.. Well I would say that you could have pendants given the size of the room and if you're not having overhead extraction on the island for example... Also there are many other things you can do with an island that doesn't necessarily involve lighting at all.. You might want to hang your pans for example.. It's not a prerequisite to have lighting here. Interested to know what the Tropical garden window splashback is.. but don't forget a pendant can be a cluster configuration of a single drop. They look really gr8 at differing heights and 3 or 5 could be fantastic. In this way you can actually create something bespoke.. Things to consider are that beautiful bulbs that can be a feature in themselves... Scale... Large expansive, vs smaller. Then textures as this can create interest... Also colour... can you pick out the splashback somehow.. You can do this kind of thing with 1 ceiling rose and multiple outlets.. Have interesting cable and hooks... For other ways to illuminate which I can shed some light on... : ) ) no pun intended are wall lighting.. consider something more interesting than a spot or the usual suspects.. : ))...See MoreKitchen bench dilemma
Comments (2)I would add a pop of colour to lighten and bring to life. A bright orange is always a great colour along side that blue and the white. Or maybe trying adding a really pale blue to connect with the seaside outside views. Without seeing the property it is hard to judge but I think some grey, white and light blue patterned cushions would be a good start to adding to the already present colour pallet and style. I hope it helps and do keep us informed. Maybe add a few pictures?...See MoreWhat colour island with cream kitchen and black worktops?
Comments (10)Putting white or light grey on a kitchen floor is asking for martyrdom - fine if you're what Freud called a housewife psychotic; but if mopping your floor three times a day isn't your thing, go for a darker floor and get your reflected light from the vertical surfaces of the island. I would also be wary of white next to cream - call me old-fashioned, but it's one of the few combinations that simply jars. Have you considered having a bold and bright colour for the island as a counterpoint to all that tastefully restrained grey, black and cream?...See MoreIsland with integrated bench
Comments (8)Our open plan in the new extension is 7250x4900mm (with a little bit cut out of the corner for the utility/storage area). We are having a kitchen (run of wall units plus 1.2m wide island), dining table, we COULD fit a sofa if we wanted to but it would just be a small sofa with about 1.5m floorspace in front then the dining table starts - so a bit pointless really. So I think you would struggle with a 4x5m space. Could you fit a window seat in somewhere instead of a sofa?...See Morejacquiw57
