Suggestions needed to finish living room
Comments (5)Thanks Minnie! Great tips. The sofas shouldn't have been overlapping that was just laziness in shifting furniture after three full days of painting (lots of trim painted in other rooms as well as everything in here). Love the idea abou the bookcases, will see how that looks. I'm thinking of possibly painting the coffee table black and getting a piece of glass to put over the top to avoid scratches. I think having the two different woods in the entertainment unit and coffee table doesn't work so well. Plant is a good idea too, am thinking maybe on the left hand end of the long sofa (there's a bit of space there) as my coffee table is more often than not my dining table so needs all the room it can get! planning a trip to ikea for some cheap frames (Being in Australia I don't have b and q or Asda, more's the pity!) and going to make some paint chip artwork. Bringing colour in without needing particular artistic talent or costing the earth! thanks again...See MoreIdeas for Stand Lamps for Living Room

Comments (52)It's hard for anyone to say whether you can do it without knowing your diy skills. I used a decorator with general DIY skills to put up my walls as decorators charges tend to be much cheaper. You could also try a handyman however people would need to know type of fire, finish on chimney breast, size and design Etc. I think you'd be better off getting a few quotes though tbh in as trades differ hugely depending on area. If you're looking to put the tv over the fire do think about a comfortable viewing height ( you might consider a ribbon flame style fire as they tend to be long and skinny so the tv could be hung lower) and I would also recess the tv in the chimney breast so as to protect it from the heat of the fire or consider a mantle over the fire to deflect the heat. there's quite a number of paintings on this link which could work not knowing what style of art you like https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/partners/omarobaid/products...See Morelamp advice for living room
Comments (12)Lovely room, the tables are rather industrial in style so I think something rustic or organic would tie in nicely. The Next one is beautiful but quite blingy so I’m not sure, although I love the blush pink shade! How do you feel about a wood or concrete lamp Base? Found these which I think would look nice, but only a suggestion. The first one is £40 from Matalan, the second is £55 from John Lewis. I use coasters on my side tables. The last pic is my concrete lamp from Dunelm which gives a lovely warm glow. I agree with you that dark shades look smart, but don’t light up a room very well!...See Morepaintchartpolly
