Need help with choosing colours for my kitchen walls
Comments (4)I have been advised to paint the colour of the walls the same as the white cabinets to avoid highlighting how off white my cabinets are. However won't this make the kitchen look bland. Can you advise what colour I could use as a feature wall to add contrast /tonal. Also which wall(s) would you chose as a feature wall....See MorePlaid sofa need help with styling my living room!
Comments (3)Yellow or orange is a great counterpoint for cushions for the sofa and maybe a rug. Curtains are more expensive to replace so it may be best to keep them neutral. There's a cute modern style rug from habitat with a grey & yellow pattern. Take a swatch of your check and see how well it matches....See MoreNeed advice on my living room colour wise I have a brown leather sofa
Comments (2)Hi andykate1, With darker rooms it is best to stick to a light colour palette that will make the room feel more expansive and open. Opting for a fresh neutral tone such as ‘Rocksalt’ will give the room an uplifted feel and make any dark room feel airy and balanced. ‘Rocksalt’ is a modern mid-tone that fits in between grey and white- not as stark as bright white and not as deep as grey. Why not create a beautiful feature of the main wall within the room? ‘Sun Dust 2’ is a lovely warm tone of golden yellow and is sure to bring in personality to the space and help the whole room feel ‘more together’. This can also be a colour to bring through in accessories and dressing the room. Try also using a co-ordinating colour with your accessories that will finish the scheme such as a rich navy. I'd suggest this gorgeous patterned rug from John Lewis, as it's sure to bring a cosy element to the scheme and adds dramatic interest: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-kalkan-rug-multi Adding textures to your sofa breaks up the dark colour and gives a homely feel, here are two I love!: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-pebble-cushion http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-tamaki-cushion Finally, it wouldn't feel like autumn without a place to rest your feet in front of the fire; introducing a pouffe or footstool could be a really lovely idea: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-diamond-shadow-pouffe Good luck decorating - It'll be so worth it on those cosy autumn nights to have a living room that feels like your sanctuary!
