Comments (16)Hi There I would add a hallway runner to take away the echo that would be there (due to there being a hard floor). I would also add something in the hall either a coat rack wall, mounted or free standing and change the light fittings for something unusual, a striking fitting is what is necessary in a room with very few features....See MoreDon't know where to start
Comments (2)Start with a competent concept planner - who will look at the floor plan and make suggestions ! If you are thinking of knocking down walls then a structural engineer might be needed, together with a builder . Usually the home owner gets the builder in first, to see what's required then he/she liaises with the SE to work out exactly what can and can't be done. Then your builder will let you know what's possible and approximately how much it will cost.If your property is more that two floors high then you can't open the stairs, due to fire risk . Then you need to keep a fire door'd hall around the stairs to protect them ... If you are thinking of external changes too, then an architect would be a good idea, as its lots more involved and Planning Dept comes into play too - but with internal changes its buildings regs monitored to keep standards and safety high then when it's complete they will sign off the work. If it's not done properly they won't sign it off and you will have problems if you try to sell the property - so it's worth having a proper, and safe, job done ! ...if you add your floor plan here and add a bit more info - ie number of floors etc - I will take a quick look for you, on my break this afternoon ! Just finishing my lunch break now - so won't be back on Houzz till later !...See MoreI need help with my new loft bedroom
Comments (2)Hi there, I'd say you've made a great start with Cornforth White because it's such a lovely calming and understated grey colour. It also means you can go pretty much any way colour wise. If you fancy keeping the room relatively neutral, opt for a relatively simple fabric for the curtains... This simple stripe fabric from Designers Guild would look great, and comes in a number of warm tones https://www.designersguild.com/uk/designers-guild-essentials/fabric/brera-nastro-duck-egg-fabric/p12867. If you fancy opting for something more vibrant, Bluebellgray have some beautifully hand painted linen designs ranging from bold abstract to delicate floral... http://www.bluebellgray.com/shop/fabrics/abstract/ Carpet wise, I think a natural hessian style would look lovely. Hope the ideas help!...See MoreLovely bedroom, but don´t know what to do with it. Please help.
Comments (23)HI MARINA, I love your bedroom- great high ceilings. Your furniture is also nice. I would follow the lead from the furniture keeping all furniture white. I love tropical coastal style. I would put up a white ceiling fan and ikea sell some white nets that let in loads of light and give privacy. I would decorate the walls in an off white with a hint of pink in it for warmth and to bring out the tones in your beautiful floor. I would collect local art for the walls. I would go to town on the bedding and cushions for the bed. I would mix your favourite colours- turquoise, teal, with green and coral. Making the room have a tropical coastal beach hotel vibe. I would feel like I was on holiday every day and never want to leave. Once you've surrounded yourself with personal things like photo frames of loved ones, plants/ flowers etc, you will feel right at home and settled. I've loved decorating for years, and tried lots of colours on walls but recently I've returned to off whites as they are so flexible and you can change the look with coloured accessories regular. "2 good books to read are Greg Natale - 'A tailored interior'- He's great, and tells you trade secrets to give your home the wow factor an be your own interior designer. Also anything by Barclay Butera - he's the best for coastal/beach styles. Wishing you lots of fun....See MoreJust The Chair
