How to improve kerb appeal
Comments (10)Just for the record I think this is a lovely looking mid century property and i feel it benefits from the shape of the chimney and the dormer window. Without them you'd have a featureless aspect! Even if you retain the white windows, (because that's a huge job), I would definitely change your front door to something that isn't PVC. White PVC doors date properties, but not in a charming way. If you have a hefty budget then horizontal wood cladding (or that faux wood porcelain stuff, that's already greyed) would elongate the walls and make it look wonderful. Might try a mock up on my old laptop....See MoreKerb appeal improvement
Comments (11)Personally I think you leave the red..... it's not my favourite but you ultimately devalue your semi if you make it very different from your attached neighbour. Personally I would look at putting the front door on the front of the porch and adding a garage door (perhaps a side opening one.). You might also consider having the yellow brick of the newer additions stained darker to match the original brick. Lastly I would try to reconcile the untidy windows above the carport by swapping the little window for a velux and centralising the other window....See MoreImprove kerb appeal
Comments (9)Just a few things:- I don't think you need to make a radical change, however, the thing that stands out most is the fact that the wall all around is crumbling. The wall at the forefront shows the worst damage, so i would be tempted to render that to improve it. Also, nearer the top up by the front door, the frontage does not match with the other side and it has very dated stone inserts. I would also remove that part so that it matches the other side. Although this time of year is awful for the garden, I think it's better to present it as tidy as possible with no dead plants and a little greenery, so maybe you could put a couple of evergreen standard box up by the front door. I don't think huge changes are needed, but the wall won't help as it's dated and crumbling, so if you can make it look better, prospective buyers will not think that they may need a new wall soon after they move in. It also makes for a better looking entrance to the property and invites you in more....See MoreImproving kerb appeal of our new house
Comments (13)Looking at the windows they are grey. To balance I would get a new grey porch. From the age of the house I would think this was built as an open porch that has then been filled in. Any conservatory or window company would be able to replace the whole structure for you with better styling and insulation. The plant looks like a clematis Montana which grows really quickly and needs regular trimming after flowering is over. You might be better training the shrub on the right across the top of the doorway. I would first cut it back against the wall so you can see what you’ve got. It might look a bit shabby initially but will then regenerate - feed it. If you want a climber on the left I would go for Star Jasmine - Trachelospermum Jasminoides. Much easier to control....See Moreal4n
