Fed up hiding lamp cables under rugs? Wish you could place lighting where you want it, rather than where electrical points dictate? It's time to cut the cord with Alexander Joseph lamps.

I'd go for neutral bases (white, satin nickel, chrome) and have colour matched shades made. I have these done all the time and they can cost from a few pounds for a small polycotton drum to a couple of hundred for high output LED suspended shades designed for those with partial sight loss, dementia or other such conditions where a high volume of quality diffuse light is required. I have about 80 standard colours I choose from and I get them made in around 2 - 3 weeks from drawings. I think a lot of pattern matched lighting can be overwhelming but it is a personal choice.

So, after a weekend of debate, we’ve gone for the Anderson bedside table from made.com. While I loved the round idea, I couldn’t justify the expense of the Penelope when there are some many other things to get done. I’d seen the Anderson months ago and loved it, so thank you for the reminder! Now for lamps… we’re going to wait until the tables are in before we decide 👍. Thanks Minnie and Sharon!
