Feature wall with hidden wine cellar entrance - aesthetic help needed!
Comments (23)Thanks all. Sorry it wasn't very clear before. I started mid through my renovation sentence as opposed to the full sentence! Whoops! Thanks for your input thus far. I've attached more photos which should hopefully give a proper visual. As Karen at One Plan (who are FYI amazing and downright beyond talented) rightly said it is a walk way so nothing protruding out is a viable option for the space. We're not sure what to do with the wall, hang photos, one off statement, hidden door, visual door, standard doors for the wine nook and something else wow on the wall? It's a big space and central to the rooms movement do something cool and stylish and modern but workable. We just want what looks Amazing! Has a cool wow factor but practical. My other half was thinking a sliding door too Karen but I thought it may restrict walking space when it was open? Please give us your best design suggestion. We don't have any creative bones in us....See MoreCreating Hidden Office Space in Living Room
Comments (7)A picture of the space where this office/media unit will be situated would be useful. However the picture Elena has supplied that you like could be achieved with IKEA units (Besta units, Billy bookcases, floating lack shelves etc) If you Google IKEA hacks you'll find loads of examples of where people have done this and then added wood trim to give the effect of a bespoke built in. Depending on your skills and budget you could do all the flat pack assembly and then pay a joiner for the wall hanging and finishing touches....See MoreNew kitchen / diner layout - which would you choose?
Comments (5)That's great if you can be flexible with the windows. I personally prefer option 2 but would swap the island and the dining area. A bigger utility would always be my choice. If possible, going for an integrated fridge/freezer would give you more space. I've 'guestimated' where the pillar is... could be in the totally wrong place! I am thinking tall units with double oven/fridge/freeze (built-in) on the entry wall with the pocket door. Or go for combined fridge/freezer and use one tall unit as a mini pantry cupboard which could hide away microwave & kettle. (Light Blue) Sink under the first window (can make it smaller) and then hob could also back wall if you don't want it on the island. Block up the second window potentially. Then can have more tall units by the dining table or low level with open shelves for the dining area. (Dark Purple). If you have tall units there, you can add a cupboard and have kettle etc underneath where the window used to be. Funnily enough, this is what we've planned for our kitchen. Another option, (although I know not everyone likes this style, is run the table off the island). I personally really like this design....See MoreWhich wall would you mount the TV on?
Comments (27)Hi Lola, thanks for adding this comment. I'm highly inclined to agree with you but the thing that's annoying me is that right side wall with the clock on it. That's a solid brick wall. I love the idea of having that new fake wall built with sunk in niches/compartments on the left, top, bottom and TV in the middle. But the right side is going to look strange as there no symmetry with the left side AND I can't cut into the right side brick wall ....or....can I? I want the whole wall to be flush with niches but want that symmetry with top, bottom , right and left. Any ideas how I can achieve that? As I think out loud, I could ignore niches on the left as I can't do anything on the right and simply put niches on over and below the TV. This way you have symmetry on all 4 sides. So in summary: Above TV sunk in niched compartments Below TV sunk in niched compartments Left side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? Right side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? TV sunk in the middle. I'm not sure I like the blanked sides or hung pictures. With pictures you would have items protuding on the right/left sides whereas all other sides including the TV will be sunk in. Confusing on the eye? Any other ideas on how I might be able to combat this?...See MoreOcean Clarke
