A small conservatory as an extension to the kitchen?
Comments (3)Hi Catherine, Check out our video online of a ConservaBase being installed. These are Conservatory Steel Bases that are designed to go over drains or man hole covers. Have a look at the video and we can advise you on what permission you need to do this. It's quite common and easy to do :) If you have any further questions, or if you would like a brochure pack, please do not hesitate to give me a call on our free phone number 0800 952 8000. Comments (3)That is a good point. I have thought of staggering the line at the back. Unfortunately that would not work with our garden as we have limited space at the back and the extension would shade a large area. The current living room is small and I am concerned we are creating a long narrow room. We have got used to the cosy space but when the family return home it is too small. The living room at the front will be more a snug/office space when we are finished. I am attaching some photos of the current room/conservatory....See MoreReplace south facing conservatory with extension?
Comments (4)Thanks Lizzie that looks great. I have to say though I need to be convinced on the orangery type of extension as our last house and this one has a got a conservatory and our previous one had one too and I'm not a big fan (the usual too hot in summer, too cold in winter, too much glazing etc! I can understand it's better but would be concerned about having the same type of issues - presume yours is ok? Man about the house - thanks for those drawings. Interesting you have done a seperate utility room - was hoping with all the extra wall space to have them down the side. Is there still a preference to have a seperate utility room? Maybe I need to go bigger!...See MoreExtension or orangery or conservatory
Comments (4)I agree with forzaitalla. Do you have any photographs, plans or hand sketches? That would make it easier for us to help. However, you mentioned something about a load bearing wall and one option you could actually consider is to introduce columns and a crossbeam in its place, which can be done with steel, or more affordably reinforced concrete. This will help remove the loads from the wall to a steel or concrete frame. This is quite standard work but you should pick a builder who is competent in such work. I hope this helps, if you need any more advice, feel free to reach out. Have a nice day, Ed (betterspace.co)...See MoreDamian Sheerin Architects
