I back no rug too - and may I make another suggestion, budget permitting? Consider getting lined AND interlined Roman blinds instead of curtains for the window. It's a very tall room but seemingly a bit "chimney-like" because of its proportions. The tall thin curtains reinforce that feeling. Some wall mounted shelves from IKEA would be a great replacement for the somewhat random bookcase too. Rug might work then with a blind and wall-mounted shelving.....

Actually the curtains look fine, better than I expected but yes a totally different style to the rug and both quite distinct patterns so clashed. I'd go with a more abstract fluid rug in similar colours and a splash of something like pale lime. blue or orange so it's not too matchy matchy. One step at a time! I've been known to buy and change sofas and rugs in my living room numerous times until I'm happy (luckily I like pre-loved things so rarely lose much, if any money on them, just takes a bit of effort. I know you are saying you want something with green but have you thought of a blue rug? A deep blue with not much pattern to tie everything together and bring some groundless to your space. At the moment everything is grey, pale or pastel colours with pattern or solid surfaces and the space needs an element of groundless to bring all elements together. The colour blue is the number one colour that is easiest to perceive by the human eye, therefore it will never feel heavy or overwhelming for you to look at. It will also provide a nice complimentary composition for all your other accent colours. I wouldn't use green as the wrong green can be very harsh to the eyes. Green and grey are also two colours that are currently trendy but will be out of style soon, when the trend is over.

Well I did actually go and buy one and what a difference it made! Couldn’t get the one I wanted in the larger size from the link you posted (all out of stock!) but I did buy one from another company who are eco friendly and make theirs from plastic straws as well. Was going for a grey one but decided on something vibrant to brighten the concrete base up and we love it! It’s huge though.
