Shiplap panels

I love the shiplap here. We are on a tight budget and would like to buy wide (min 6 inch) V groove panel boards; Do you know where we could source these in the UK?

Hi, the boards shown in the photo are actually solid logs (134x260mm) and form the main structure of the house. We can offer 25x260 boards that look the same but they usually come as part of the log house kit shipped from Finland. I'm sure you could source a similar looking panel in the UK or have a local timber specialist machine them for you.

Hello All, hope you're having a lovely Saturday - just saw Wales win their first Euro 16 match; very happy, now waiting for England. Quick update: cut the grass on a high setting following advice and did some weeding. Decided to jet wash the patio but found that my garden hose had holes in it. Had to dash, in the rain, to Poundstretcher to get a new one. I've never used a jet wash power and had a little taster. See below. Tomorrow, I hope to wash the patio properly but it's hard work. Tommy Turtle's looking a lot better and you can the slabs that I've done so far. Think I need to sweep first as the moss was flying everywhere! A little comparison, of what can be. Hopefully, I will post the results tomorrow. How is everyone getting on with their projects? Keep posting!

Hi Claire ! Adding some thoughts .... If the carpet is going - try to replace it with something equally sound deadening - as otherwise his late night games with the lads will keep everyone below up - with all that pacing and pondering before a shot ! Re decision to go for industrial or gentleman's club - (luckily the lamp will suit either) - which of the two fits in better with the other rooms that lead to or will be enjoyed by guests prior to entering this one.... and which style might you expect from the exterior of the house ? Do you want cohesion with the rest of the home - or is the the wild card room ? If the table is to be the main feature of the room - then don't go too dark on your lower paint colour or it wall blend in too well. But if this IS the effect - then perhaps try ALL graphite - ceilings too ( try a paint a photo app and see if this works for you ) Then add brighter bar seating and warm lighting in that area to make that the prominent piece . Add a separately switched strong white light to aim at the dart board - and I you do go for panelling here too- I'd suggest you mount the dartboard on a layer of either cork or dark rubber matting. I'd suggest, to keep the feel of a billiards room, only light the bar area, and have low lamps in each corner of the room, that can be switched off individually if they interfere with a shot. Nb. As the ceiling is so low - I'd suggest the bar be in the front of the window - so the players can stand upright in that bit much easier. Hope that helps a bit !

Assuming the builder hadn't planned to lay the engineered wood over this floor I think this sounds great- I think on the bedroom wall it will look great especially with a stain with a little white in it. I do have a couple of reservations- You need to consider if there will be any clashes with the engineered floor (perhaps carpet would be better in the bedroom) and whether there may be too much wood. I think you should also consider the light levels of your room and choose your stain accordingly- probably going lighter. I also have a reservation about putting it on the ceiling- firstly the easiest way to do this is baton your ceiling then add the floorboards- you will likely loose 2-3 inches of head height. My second reservation is a concern about weight and stability and my third is that you will be painting it in which case you can't see that it is a reclaimed product. Personally I would decorate the ceiling with something grander so you have an eclectic mix- I like Victorian coving but you could consider a pressed tin or zinc ceiling- there are also some brilliant wallpapers that emulate the real thing. You could also sell the wood for salvage or have it made into furniture

Wall panelling is a great idea with some bathroom paint for extra water resistance or there are some lovely PVC wall cladding options like the one below which are wipeable and very hardwearing.
