Comments (19)Good morning Lousie, Table choice: it depend on your life style really. A extendable table to keep 'small' for the everyday use will allow you to have more space. Think at what and how will you use it, do you have children? is it going to get scratched or use as working surface to prepare food? Also which style are you going for? You need to have very clear in mind the style or look for the all room first, and then think at each element and ask your self: does it fit into the overall style? Look on Houzz or magazines for a kitchen similar to yours: black splash back and wooden cabinets + wood flooring and check the style of things around it: accessories, lighting, tables, chairs and all. It's easy to fall in love with one item and then discovered that just do not fit with the rest of the room design. The table you have now looks good, I will start by up-dating the chairs and take my time to get the rest of the kitchen style sorted. You could even keep the chairs and just paint them and maybe paint the table legs too leaving just the top as it is. Have a plan first, it will be much easier to choose everything else after you have a clear style direction. Whatever you do, have fun! Comments (165)Hello Mohammed, You're welcome ! I think the wooden chest is actually nice and I would leave that and have a mirror over it.. It's looks good but of course entirely your choice. The copper/rose gold or glass bulb light is the one to consider out of the ones you have chosen but the glass bulb would give you more light! However it's more subtle... Reason why I'd be inclined to leave the wooden chest and add something there.. Wood offers warmth and texture which is why I think it's a nice idea.. At the far end I would only suggest a mirror (if the hall is really short but it didn't appear to be) You can always try a long mirror and then try adding something like a column and a sculpture or a vase of flowers or something decorative to stand in front. If you want to add a bench seat by all means or maybe a console table would be nicer or useful - it really depends on how you use your hall. :))...See MoreVery Ugly Exterior- Suggestions Please
Comments (31)Hi Claire, Your more than welcome. The advice to use a "local" architect is a good one, he will know the area, the various legislation in force for your district and he should be on talking terms with the local councillors so his advise will save you a lot of time. I would advise you to ask him to do a full survey, interior and exterior, ideally you need an architect that can transfer the survey to ACAD format. (Make it digital)... Even if your only doing the front at this stage its good to have the existing interiors drawn up so you can use them later. When your architect has drawn up the front of the house, please feel free to send it to me and I'll have a tinker to see if I can fine tune it for you. You can contact me through www.angel-martin.com......(No charge, I just want you to get the very best out of the frontage, its a beautiful house, it deserves the attention) With regards to the interior, one bit of advise.... Design "all" the interior layouts at the same time even if you will be doing each room stage by stage. If you do them individually the design will be fragmented. By designing everything you create a synergy between the areas, a "battle plan" if you like that will prompt where you could start and the direction you need to take. Wishing you well.... Comments (18)Hi Suzanne, The stairs i had in the drawing were my version of what i thought it would look like before we got formal drawings from the architect (bit of cut and paste of existing plans). I do have an updated version he did i'll post here. However on this plan the bay at the back of the kitchen is too narrow and we haven't got the side windows shown in the kitchen etc. The stairs i had shown have a half landing. Our current stairs have 2 quarter landings. The stairs only go up 1 floor - 15 steps (15th being the landing level). We are also constrained by some eaves so the steps can't come up directly onto the landing by the wall due to head height issues - i have shown this with a red line. Happy to consider any stair variants you mentioned. I will take a look at stairbox.com thank you. The hall is approx 7.5m by 3.5m if you include the utility/coat cupboard area in the overall space. Thanks again for looking at this for us!...See Moremithencl
