The kitchen worktop dilemma – which one to choose?

One of the newest developments in kitchen worktops
which offer a relatively cheap option are thin profile laminates. They are
durable and take up very little space. However, still the most desired worktop is Dekton
engineered stone – stunning – and worth looking at Silestone too
.

Great questions, but depends on many things. Firstly - the style of kitchen. Modern handless designs tend to welcome a stone worktop better than laminate, cottage style kitchens work well with natural wood worktops.

The great thing about modern laminate is that it is now available in so many different colours and textures that from a distance you would be pushed to tell if it is stone or laminate. Unfortunately it does not offer the durability of the stone worktops, however it is an unbeatable option for the budget conscious client.

It's all down to budget too. I like laminate worktops but they need to be 40mm for me in a kitchen. I'm not a lover of granite worktops, they're not as hardwearing as people expect them to be especially if grease is spilt on them.
Solid surface is much better than granite and in my opinion is now more popular. Pure White from Pietra is very popular and a pure bright shade of white.

There are endless possibilities for using marble in the kitchen and which one you choose is ultimately based on your personal tastes! Thanks very much Nicola and Creativeorg, The darker granite worktop is for a breakfast bar with sink unit which is separate to the kitchen - a galley kitchen that has been changed into a u shaped kitchen using the dining room area. The walnut units will be along a wall so, yes I think a cream worktop will work very well. Thank you.

I prefer Ariel with the vein, as the clean white will bend with the white cabinets with the veins complimenting the dark wood cabinets. But go with the one that you went 'OOH' first, you will find that if you love something, then all your 'loves' compliment each other! Plus its too expensive not to.... We are choosing Silestone Orion which is a mottled white-grey with plenty of veining to hide the dirt! Plus shop around as the Silestone quote we got from a local Gold Approved was nearly half that of other local Gold Approved Silestone suppliers.... Good luck!
