where did walnut idland come from? is that vinyl, real wood, of mdf painted ?

Hi Clark,

The kitchen is from Eggersmann - the island is their Vinterio Walnut Veneer and the hob run is their Polymatt Icy White. I hope that helps.

Hi, I looked at staining my own tbh with a water based grey stain. I could have had it v pale or darker depending on how diluted I made the stain. (I can dig out the details of it if u want to go down this route) Otherwise there are readymade flooring in grey tones depending if you want laminate, engineered or solid wood. Colour wise, I'd go for a mid tone that's not too pale and not too dark. As long as the floor has different tones in it ie with wood, you see all the knots etc, then it will hide more dirt. My parents have white floors upstairs (washed oak effect) and you can't tell what is dirt and what is the 'wood'! I've also had v dark floors and they were a nightmare to keep clean. Every spek of dust showed up on them.

450 sounds good - but just make sure there's enough support under - may need brackets on side of cabinets. 300mm is usually the 'over run' type size rather than 450 . Walnut sounds fab. Try to tone in to your flooring if you can maybe ?!?! Oak is also good for wear and tear. Yacht stuff looks good if not the shiny version - seen some recently and had a high sheen - made the wood look faux !

Hi, this is going to be a great space! I really like your theme of brown/mustard/khaki, it's going to be so warm and contemporary. What about painting the wall with the two windows in your living space a rich ochre/mustard and repeating it on the opposite wall. There isn't a great expanse here as you have the walkway to the kitchen but it will reflect beautifully. With those big glass doors and roof light you can afford to go darker. The current mustard wall in the dining area, you could go for a fun, bold wallpaper with complimentary colours. It'll all tie in effectively but you'll have defined areas. Keep the remaining walls as they are and add accessories to bring the whole extension together. Im in process of changing the layout of my house. It will result in a large open plan lounge Kitchen dinning room about 35x25ft. It will have glass all the way down two walls. Im going to have a 15ft run of tall kitchen cabinets with true handless walnut doors (pic below) and Matt black rails. The island is about 10ft long and will be Matt black doors and rails. This has all been ordered and cant be changed. Island Worktops and flooring need to be picked. What colour floor and island worktop would you go with? Im looking for a very modern look.
