Paint Design Dilemma

What colour should i paint my cottage and front door.

My cottage faces north,never gets any sun,it sits between a grey one and a white one, at the moment it is creamy yellow,with a wooden front door which i am also going to paint and a white canopy, it has white upvc cottage style windows. I would like something feminine ( but not deep pink ) and sophisticated . Will upload a photo . Thankyou.

What a great decision to have to make, I wish I lived on a colourful street. Lucky you. I like either the salmon pink of the first photo or the palest pink of the second photo. I’d stick to white for the door.
Keep us updated with what you decide, I don’t think you can go wrong with most colours but I wouldn’t want to be the boring one in the row

If it were me I would find a chalky white for the render, paint the front door a taupe colour then add topiary

I am on a very busy main road with no front garden, as my next door neighbour is white i really wanted a different colour as two different whites together always makes one look dingy, but thank you I will add a photo sometime today ,

I must admit I am scratching my head a bit on this one - the two slightly different shades of cream don't make it easy! If everything wasn't split new, I think I would be recommending changing the tiles. I'm not a fan of painting tiles either, but I am really at a loss as to what to suggest. A teal perhaps or verdigris, but I think whatever colour you pick, the tile/cabinet combination may still feel a little unbalanced. Might be worth thinking what you can do to mask the tiles with nicely coloured appliances, possibly an accessory rail, fruit bowl, plants/herbs etc.

Hi, I'd keep both the same colour and I don't mind the white; however the exterior has fairly warm hues with the porch door, tiles, brickwork and so the white is a contrast. If you are looking to paint the door, I'd go for Taupe-grey so there's a hint of brown present just to make the external door and internal door feel more cohesive.

This look would be rather timeless and easy to re-use when wanting to change styles and colour schemes. Keeping a rather neutral palette, which is what you've gone for is a good idea for the kitchen as to not age so quickly. With the use of colourful accessories and well chosen lighting I think this space could look fab. If you hadn't already chosen your units and had them fitted, I'd have recommended a slightly darker shade to provide some contrast, and a slightly lighter island colour. However, I wouldn't recommend darker walls, purely as your space although being a good size and having some natural light. It's not flooded with it, so wouldn't want to makes the space darker than necessary. Hope this helps! Let me know. :) - Kerry @KerryBryanInteriors

I would prefer to see a colour too, rather than anthracite - which can turn into a bit of a black hole for a front door. I like a front door to be more interesting than just matching the window frames. Agree that doing the whole thing would be best to maximise the size of the door - especially since it's not huge and it's not centred on the front of the house - so you want it to be really obvious where the door is and draw people to it.

I do love that dusky Pink that’s available from lots of paint companies - could look wonderful and welcoming on a cottage. Have you tried a ‘colour your photo’ app ? They are great fun to try colours before you do in real life !

Here is a photo, not a very good one but it gives some idea. it is probably Buttermilk colour.

I have not used a colour app before so i might give it a try, thankyou for your suggestions,

What a pretty cottage. I like the buttermilk, and if you paint the door a soft green it will look even prettier, or why not pink? There is a row of cottages in my town very similar to yours and each one is a different colour, maybe one will appeal?

Beautiful row of cottages in the sunshine, i like the one far right that looks like FB Red Earth, i like the green door too, the pink is a little too much for my road but still a fab colour. I will have to get a FB full colour chart i only have a partial one. Plus as a note i dont want to use plastic paint.

I would go with something neutral and warm (beige), you can check F&B elephant's breath.

I love the second picture with the window box and red front door as it will link nicely to the grey and white of my neighbour , thank you , undecided on the wall colour though, it looks a bit beighy ?

I adore seeing cottages painted different colours and would love to paint mine (if a had one) whatever pastel shade wasn’t taken by a neighbour :) there are some near me that are all white but they’ve painted their timber porches the different colours instead. So pretty!

I am thinking of a warmer colour especially as it faces north, the salmon and pinkish tones are my colour choices, and they will go with my neighbours grey and white. Thank you.

Just done a couple of quick mock-ups for you to look at, one in light pink with a grey door and the other in a salmony colour with a white door.

I think both would work to be honest - all the best with your project!

Thankyou forzaitalia, Not exactly the same but a warmer buttery colour as it is North facing, I tried every colour under the sun and decided creamy yellow was the best, ,
