Hi Jane Powell!

This pattern was based on a William Morris print... to reflect the craftsman styling throughout the home...

A belated THANK YOU to everyone who commented. This is the final result. We're super happy with it. Room A north facing "through-lounge" in a new build, 3 bed semi detached house Paint Walls: Purbeck Stone, Farrow & Ball Ceiling: Strong White, Farrow & Ball By the way, the room isn't as long and skinny as it looks in the photos. Painting it all one colour actually made it feel much, much larger. We were really impressed with the quality of advice the F&B staff gave us in regards to colour. We loved Purbeck Stone from the minute we saw it, and being brave really paid off.

I had exactly the same instinct as you that it was a William Morris wallpaper but couldn’t find it. Perhaps a different William Morris paper would give you the same colourway. Alternatively try a search for wisteria wallpaper for a similar pattern in a different colour.

Hi Gerty, I would definitely recommend a neutral textured wallpaper if you didn't want to just paint the walls either side. Harlequin do some really nice ones that would work against the busy fireplace. Or you could use on another wall and paint either side of the fireplace, hard to say for sure without seeing the whole room. This has a slight plaster affect which slightly emulates the pattern in the fireplace... This one is a metallic texture which could look really nice... This shows how the textured wallpaper will look but I would stick to a neutral colour...

The wardrobes are a very traditional colour, so any other element which is also perceived as traditional may look a little 'staid'. I would consider a palette like this. Paint and Paper library Desert Rose is a lovely dirty pink beige which looks great with stronger teracotta accents and cleaner pinks. It would work with the purple colour of the wardrobe. Anything taupe would go flooring wise, just not orangey oak or pine.

This project was completed almost ten years ago! Many of the vendors and sub-contractors come to us through the GCs we work with. Which means, regretfully, that I don't have this information at my fingertips... let me see what information I can get from the builder - but it might take a little while (they are in Bali for 10 days)...
