2. Large space made to look smaller- In this highly renovated kitchen you can see how the owner added a very beautiful island in the center of the kitchen to create a sense of closure. An island add many features to a kitchen as it adds more space, seating, and texture to your kitchen. The added texture on the wall above the stove is different than the paint in the dinning room to make the room feel more comfortable. To decrease the feeling of loneliness in the kitchen they also added detailed ceilings and low-hanging light fixtures, making the room feel less empty.
3. Space extended outward- In this bedroom you can see they added an extra space for a dinning area in their bedroom. With the ice white modern chairs and clear table you feel as if your in two different rooms. Light decoration and the heavy colors on the bed give a sense of comfort without too much eye movement.
6. Vertical line- In this breathtaking country home they added a wall of windows and high ceilings to create an open and natural sense. By adding the vertical wood this made the room seem taller to heighten the outdoor effect. This also makes wide spaces feel narrower, in so adding formality to the room.
10. Light apparent weight- In this Nursery the light apparent weight gives a more elegant room. In being a nursey, the bright white walls make the room feel more larger with the light from the window reflecting off the walls. The light tan accent color makes the room feel less dull and brings in dimension to the room with the added wall texture. With this rooms light texture to the furniture creates less eye movement which is common for nursery.
11. Heavy apparent weight- The owner of this room wanted a very dramatic feel with the various different textures added. The room has added texture from the floor to the ceilings. The added texture to the ceilings with the smooth and pattern texture. The headboard to the bed is the focal point to the room adding a goth and modern feel to the room.
12. Texture- This room is filled with different textures and patterns. With the rug being a grey zigzag pattern and the couches neutral soft feel. The various colors and patterns on the walls and trim were intentional, this adds more eye movement in this room. This can be good or bad depending on the style of room you want. The artist of this room wanted to create a home feel with also a luxurious comfort.
13. Positive and Negative space- In the before picture you can see the negative aspects of space. Although it looks appeasing to sight, there could be adjustments. By adding the table around the room adds space and gives a more updated modern feel. By changing the color of the walls of room looks much larger by the natural light from the window reflecting off the walls. The updated wood and wall art gives this a more home feeling.
14. Two types of lines- In this room you can see they wanted a vibrant look. The horizontal line of paint on the wall makes the room look more diverse adding more colors you can work with. Adding the triangle pattern to the large cloth above the bed makes a dramatic feel when you first walk into this room pulling all of the colors together.
15. Three elements of design- As you can see this room is filled with many elements of design. The line pattern on the rug makes the room feel more comfortable with also adding more design and texture to the room. The artist that made the layout for this room made it very spacious but also managed to have the furniture set up for easy socialization. The texture is different throughout the whole room, as you can see the slick design on the furniture matches the feel of the room with the shiny ceilings and smooth walls.
1. Small space made to look larger- In this photo you can see this is a relatively a small office. To make this room look larger you can see they added windows to the left wall to brighten the room and reflect off the modern deep blue paint. With the light furniture and slightly higher ceilings leads guests to feel more comfortable and less trapped in this confined area.
