so cute!
LOVE for the J&J bathroom! V-pattern shower tile. Black penny tile with white grout that runs from the floor up the wall behind the vanity. Custom wood trim and tub apron. “It set this bathroom apart,” Jung says. Designer tip. “We spent a larger portion of the money on the shower enclosure tile,” Jung says. “Yet one of the most distinctive design elements in this bathroom is the penny tiles lining up the walls. Penny tiles are a relatively low-cost tile, but they really elevate the space.” “Uh-oh” moment. “We didn’t want to use conventional trims to finish off the edging for the shower tile,” Jung says. “This forced us to think outside the box, and we ended up using wood trim to cap off all the tile, which worked wonderfully.”
Mirrors in unexpected places really help to expand the space, especially near the ground, where they let the floor stretch out (you can also create the look by using mirror for bathroom toe kicks or closet doors). Also notice how this bath and the one in the previous photo have glass doors instead of a curtain for maximum openness. A fixed glass panel with a swing door is one of my go-tos, even with a standard tub installation.
J&J Bathroom has no window: If you don’t have a window letting light in, then you won’t want something that takes light away. Polished metal, glass, mirror and Lucite are great materials for adding interest and drama without absorbing light. The space will feel uniform, even if there’s very little color.
add glitter and rice lights to illuminate. hang in sitting room!
