Best of Houzz 2022 UK - London (Dining Room)
Zulufish
A Victorian terraced townhouse set over five storeys, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms on the upper two floors; a double drawing room, family room, snug, study and hall on the first and ground levels, and a utility room, nanny suite and kitchen-dining room leading to a garden on the lower level.
Settling here from overseas, the owners of this house in Primrose Hill chose the area for its quintessentially English architecture and bohemian feel. They loved the property’s original features and wanted their new home to be light and spacious, with plenty of storage and an eclectic British feel. As self-confessed ‘culture vultures’, the couple’s art collection formed the basis of their home’s colour palette.

In this light-filled kitchen, a statement Crittall skylight creates the link between the old and the new, drawing the eye to the bespoke fitted dining area and garden beyond.
The island with integrated ceramic hob, hand-painted cabinetry and a traditional AGA make this a practical family kitchen.

This impressive monochrome kitchen creatively combines practical kitchen features with a comfortable and stress-free atmosphere. The large space includes beautiful ornate cornicing and a ceiling rose, together with a fireplace as the central feature. The open space successfully weaves modern features like metal, timber and marble whilst maintaining the functional elements of the kitchen. The island unit is manufactured in state-of-the-art laminate to ensure a slick contemporary look that is extremely durable. The units were chosen in a stained charcoal/graphite oak to marry with the bronze and laminate and offset with Carrara marble.

YARD Architects
This is a small side return extension to a Victorian terraced house in the heart of Camden Town. With space at a premium, we designed an inside-out lightweight exposed timber frame construction that creates a working wall incorporating services, shelving and recesses between the structure in the clients new dining area.
A large pivot door opens out into the garden, working alongside the glazed roof to provide a light and airy addition.
We have worked closely with the clients to achieve a low-cost yet design-led scheme to improve their home. A stripped back approach and simple palette of materials create a contemporary space for the clients to enjoy.
