1. Dress a room with textiles
Curtains were a big trend prediction for 2022, with professionals on Houzz noting that clients were requesting them more and more. In particular, this article identifies the bedroom as a key space for using curtains, with more homeowners keen to create a cosy, cocooning sleep sanctuary.
Sumptuous long-length curtains, like these from John Lewis, bring warmth, help with blackout and prevent draughts. They can also conjure an opulent ‘hotel-luxe’ feel – another increasingly requested trend by homeowners according to professionals on Houzz.
Styling tip: Classic pinch-pleat curtains have a timeless feel and elegant style. Try combining this traditional curtain finish with a contemporary fabric for a confident mix of old and new.

3. Frame a view to connect inside and out
Interiors that bring the outside in have proven benefits to health and wellbeing – a connection to nature reduces stress and makes us feel happier. By masterfully framing an outside view with an eye-catching blind or pair of curtains, you can draw attention to this natural aspect and increase this important connection.
Choosing the right curtain or blind is key to creating the perfect feature of your window. Start by taking inspiration from the view. If it’s a lush green vista, consider a warm rusty orange or breezy yellow fabric to complement the backdrop, while a creamy linen will serenely frame a coastal seascape. With clever use of colour and pattern, you can emphasise your beautiful view outside.
Stying tip: Heighten the connection with the outside by continuing the colour of the fabric onto other design features in the room, such as seat cushions, rugs and furniture.

4 Make an instant impact
While the lead time on some bespoke items, such as cabinetry, can take a long time to commission, updating your soft furnishings and curtains with made-to-measure designs can give you a quicker impact. This is particularly true if you opt for British made products that save on delivery time, and reduce the carbon footprint.
As John Lewis curtains and blinds are produced by Herbert Parkinson in their Lancashire textile factory, they can ensure a fast and easy express service, delivering ready-to-fit curtains to your home within 7 to 14 days. The ordering process couldn’t be simpler, too. Once you’ve made your fabric selection, simply measure your windows and place your curtain or blind order. You could be welcoming new window dressings in no time.
