Kitchen Ideas
A multi-functional built-in bookcase that: provides a bench for the dining space, and separates the dining space from other areas without completely closing it off, all the while adding depth to the space by contrasting the light the warm colors with a cool and soothing deep green (Sherwin Williams Porpoise (7047)).
Dark wood cabinets + white countertop. Adding wood frames for the upper glass cabinets is a very clever design as all-wood uppers will look too heavy. This way, the upper and lower cabinets are matched with the same wood tone yet it keeps the kitchen bright. Also clever is adding a trim detail to the range hood which helps make it feel like an integrated part of the space and make a large unit look less bulky by breaking it up with a visual stripe.
Love the frosted glass sliding doors of the upper cabinets in blackened steel frames. They are multi-functional: when open, they cover the range hood and the shelves look like open shelves, and when closed they prevent dust to collect on the "open" shelves. Also love the white marble veined countertop and the accent red brick walls. This is an eclectic kitchen that is modern and chic with an industrial vibe. Amazing!
White glossy metal 33" high cafe chair, set of 2 for $142.34
The large pantry utilizes the area under the stairs. It adds a huge amount of storage space to the kitchen and is lined with a charcoal-colored laminate, ensuring that the pantry is just as stylish as the rest of the kitchen. The fridge is concealed behind a wall opposite the tower of ovens, which leaves the main space open and uncluttered.
In the kitchen, the range hearth nods to Tudor-style kitchens, but it is rendered in a simple and clean modern way. A marble wall backsplash is accented only by a pot filler and light from overhead. The surround is the same shiplapped wood we saw on the powder room wall. This view is open to the family room, so the symmetry provides a clean, modern backdrop that flows with the other rooms. Forgoing upper cabinets for windows allowed views through to the beautiful French Burgundy Tudor next door. Flanking the windows are a refrigerator and a tall pantry cabinet. A separate pantry and butler’s pantry just out of view on the left provide plenty of storage.
The wall adjacent to the kitchen island is magnetic. It was created using a magnetic paint primer underneath the top coat of paint. When you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, it's always in view. Additional bonus: kids can use the lower half of the wall to play with their magnetic toys, and parents can keep an eye on them while cooking. It turns this space into a multi-functional cooking and activities zone.
The backsplash helps delineate the kitchen within an open-concept floor plan. Providing a sense of partial enclosure with the black tile makes the kitchen feel larger than it is, as the tile contrasts the bright white walls elsewhere in the home. Three walnut boxes hung on the tile provide easily accessible space for storing frequently used items in the kitchen, while keeping the countertops clutter-free for food preparation.

A simpler approach to achieve the scintillating effect of starlight is to get out the forgotten stash of votive candles you likely are saving for company or some supposed special occasion. Celebrate your day with candlelight. It will make the end of a good day even better, and a bad one not seem so grim.
Sophia Side Chairs, Walnut, Black, and Chrome. The geometric walnut back is interesting and unique.
Small kitchen / Condo kitchen idea. LOVE the idea to extend the marble tile backsplash all the way to the top of the kitchen wall. Both the shape and colours of the tiles add to the tranquility of the kitchen while giving it a subtle luxury. Having the bottom cabinets, island sideboard, and counter stools to be the same light wood colour as the floor ground the white kitchen and tie the place together.

I like the shape and material of the dining chairs.
LOVE these Lee Broom dining chairs, which were imported from London - part comfort part rock star.
Very smart transformation of a small kitchen in a studio apartment. Read the story: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/52342097?utm_source=Houzz&utm_campaign=u1722&utm_medium=email&utm_content=gallery11
Small kitchen. Big style. Small white kitchen cabinets + black / dark grey with white veining soapstone backsplash.
Love the custom-panelled fridge (esp. the long round stainless steel handles) and the seamless integration. Also love the drawer microwave.
Small U shaped kitchen redone in flat slab doors in a matte blue-grey and frosted upper cabinets. Appliances from the Bosch line with Apron front sink and waterfall peninsula in white quartz.
Dining chairs.
Glass and gold metal dining table from Cocoon Furnishings in Oakville (cocoonfurnishings.ca)
Love the dining table and chairs.
Love the dining table with the dipped gold legs, as well as the dining chairs with gold frames. The light colored faded patterned rug works well on the dark wood floor.
Love the combo of painted dark slab cabinets + white marble + brass handles. (Although I think the color may be too blue or too dark for my kitchen...) Backsplash and countertop from Marble Trends, cabinet paint colour by Pro Glo Paints, faucet from Aquabrass.
IKEA kitchen with painted Semihandmade cabinet doors. Island cabinet paint: Cracked Pepper, Behr; perimeter cabinet paint: Alabaster, Sherwin-Williams. Matte subway tiles with warm gray grout: Rittenhouse square matte 3-inch by 6-inch ceramic wall tiles in Arctic White, The Home Depot.
Idea: forgo some upper cabinets to make a powerful statement with a beautiful backsplash.
Kitchen Design: Lee Kimball Cabinets: Poggenpohl Polar White/ Matte Lacquer Appliances: Miele
A well thought-out kitchen with a lot of attention to detail, including the placement of pulls for a level view, brass details in pulls, faucet, stools, and pendants, minimization of stainless steel by keeping them at the same level, gradient small-tiled backsplash whose blue matches the aqua blue in the quartzite countertop, the vein pattern of the countertop flows down to the waterfall, the walnut island matching the floor color, and the inside of cabinets and drawers are walnut, too.
Dining chairs
Love this slim under-counter wine fridge. Small wine fridge dimension: 12-inch (W) x 36-inch (H) x 24-inch (D).
Love this round dining table with a glass top and wooden legs (Room & Board) and the animal rug (Meg Callahan). I also love white wall with window frames painted dark.
The backsplash is one solid slab of crisp white Statuario marble with beautiful black swirls, by York Fabrica.
Beautiful, expensive-looking kitchen on a budget. Other than a few custom pieces (such as the refrigerator panel and upper pantry shelving), all of the kitchen’s cabinets are from Ikea. LOVE the backsplash. I would change the floor to wood colors to warm up the space. Also not a fan of the oversized pendant.
Sink
Unique kitchen: glamour yet laid-back. Cabinetry color in British racing green; white Swiss tiles on the backsplash offer an unexpected alternative to subway tile, the marble slab adds lux, and the brass pendants and other details add light and glamour.
An all-white, contemporary kitchen with a big splash of color as the backsplash. I think the only way to not make this handle-less, all-white, stainless steel countertop space look sterile is that crazy, dramatic backsplash.
Yellow seams between drawers and a swipe of yellow paint add personality and happiness to the all-white kitchen. LOVE the shelves on the island - it utilizes the space between the island and the wall/window.
Love this dark, moody kitchen balanced by warm wood and brightened by happy yellow. Use yellow as a mood booster to rooms with a moody scheme or area's lacking in natural light. Here, the yellow is from Pantone’s newest color, Minion Yellow.
Modern loft with an industrial feel: white and gray paint complement the concrete floor and add a sense of modern. Steel coated pendants (from Ikea) add an sense of industrialism. Reclaimed wood dining table add warmth to the place.
A dining room that also serves as an office. Love the built-in bookshelves, the large table that functions both as a desk and, when surrounded by four modern stainless steel chairs covered in distressed brown leather, a dining table. The cool paint is custom-mixed (a muddy periwinkle color) and complements the warm wood table and warm colored rug.
Table and chairs
A contemporary kitchen with French cafe flavor: due to the expansive size of the kitchen, the upper cabinets are kept white (instead of walnut) so as to not make the kitchen look too imposing.
Island with white countertop and walnut drawers. The drawer tops have finger-pull details carved-out, which showcases the walnut grain and gives it a sleek look (having handles on all the drawers would make the island look too busy).
Cabinets: flat cut walnut with vertical grain, natural finish and a matte sheen. Backsplash: Antolini Italian Granite, Corteccia in a Lether finish. Lamp: Zuo Era
Cabinets with no handles, stainless steel countertop and backsplash combo, wood dining table connected to the island.
Love the mid-gray countertop used to pair the modern white cabinets. Also love the clean lines of the extra long stainless steel handles.
Charcoal kitchen cabinets warmed up with lighter colored countertops and wooden open shelves.
Stunning tile / wallpaper!
White shaker cabinets with modern long stainless steel handles. White countertop on the main station and dark countertop on the island with waterfall feature. Love the pendant lights (from Union Lighting in Toronto). Also love the dark small tiles as backsplash.
Here, a favorite piece of flowery fabric was cut to size and laminated to create a custom backsplash. As a result, what could have felt like a rather cold kitchen now bursts with character.
Floor tile: 16-inch Adura in Graphite, Vibe style, Mannington
Modern kitchen with non-white cabinets. I would replace the stainless steel upper cabinets to white to match the countertop and create a dual-tone kitchen.
An all-white kitchen (on top of white tiles) would be too cold and stark, but an all walnut kitchen would be quite heavy. A mixture between the two proved to be the perfect compromise. The aesthetic is sleek and light but nicely balanced by the heavier island, which warms it up and gives it a bit of character. It’s all about contrast.
Love the glossy glass herrington patterned backsplash tiles.
Small round table with skinny legs. Love the dining chairs - happy modern with soft colors!
