Anna, thanks for your comment. Bifold doors (glazed) are definitely an option that’s on my list! Yours look lovely. I also like sliding doors but not sure they’d work.

Do you think the open space is harder to keep warm?

Hi Karen - I’ve found no issues with heat at all - but we live in a 60s house with a new boiler and rads - it might be different in an older property. With the doors closed the front room becomes a proper little snug and is really cosy.
We considered sliding doors and pocket doors, but went for bifolds in the end because you can have a bigger opening because you don’t need a door’s width on either side for them to slide into. The only issue with bifolds is making sure they open in such a way that they don’t block anything, you have to think about where to place furniture. We also went for doors where, when closed, the first door opens and closes like a conventional door with the other panels being fixed in place. They are from xl joinery.
Hope your renovation goes well whatever you choose!

Anna - thanks so much for your thoughtful response. It could be a while before I get round to the next project!
And you enjoy your lovely new space(s)!
