7 Tips to make your small home office work harder
While there are huge benefits to this, the downside is that with our small properties, we often have to carve out a space on the dining room table for the day to be able to set up a work station.
I’ve got 7 tips to share with you below on how to make your work space work harder for you.
Similarly with the use of pegboards, pinboards help to keep the clutter off the desk and organised on the wall. Most stores sell pinboards that are pretty boring. So I recommend digging out an old frame or find one in a vintage market, buy some cork pinboard tiles and fit them into the frame. Fabulous and cheap, but more importantly, gets the clutter off the desk.
Another great idea is to colour code the different parts of your life that you need to keep track of. Work, home, children, finance etc... Assign each section a colour. When you are out and about searching for storage boxes, buy them in the colours that you've chosen. Now you'll know where everything is.
This small built in unit is surprisingly packed full of storage. The little pigeon holes on the shelves are clearly labelled, ensuring that things are easy to find, but also easy to put away. The document holder mounted against the wall is ingenious. Our desks are full of papers and notes, so make sure you have somewhere to put them. Keeping a small space tidy and organised is the key to having a successful workspace solution.
A ladder desk is a perfect solution if you do not have any space available for a permanent desk. It's easy to install and can fit in the smallest of spaces.
My dad had a pegboard in his workshop when we were kids. I remember he even traced around each tool to ensure that everything had it's place. I think he was onto something! If you have 'tools' or odd/large shaped pieces of equipment that you need to keep handy then install a pegboard. They are cheap as chips from your local hardware store, and you can get it cut to the size that you need. With the addition of little brass hooks, you can hang almost anything on it. It would also work quite well as a contemporary gallery space, where you can hang lots of little framed photographs.
