I recall reading this article when first published. Looking at it today gives me several ideas for remodelling a period property, perhaps more relevant now. The three sided glass double extension is quite practical for a relatively slim space. The double height sash window provides an unencumbered external door experience. The utility door in the kitchen is sleek and clever. The energy solutions provided by the pond are invisible — yet forward thinking and probably required significant investment. To me, this renovation provides a great framework for years to come — well done!

A rainwater tank buried beneath the garden and connected to an automatic irrigation system is an excellent idea.
We have expensive planting and because of the lack of rain this year we have lost quite a few. When you are being charged according to your water meter, watering plants can be costly.
An excellent idea.
