I feel that reusing old family furniture etc is part of the modern cult of being "green". Why should I visit IKEA or whatever if I can use the furniture that is well made, beautiful and part of my family history which goes back, in some cases, generations. I have had chairs reupholstered, extended bed frames, found room for a grandfather clock and put parts of a bedroom suite in three different bedrooms! I also have a cocktail cabinet and Chinese cabinet, both essential, the cocktail cabinet for obvious reasons, the chinese cabinet for storing the Christmas decorations, just like my mother did, I even have some Christmas decorations which my mother purchased from Woolies when she was a child....she was born in 1917!

I converted my grand parents 200 years old dresser in a bathroom vanity, it's a unique piece which I'm proud of and costed less than £50 to drill the marble and buy the basin.
