Guest Picks: Fabrics I'm Loving
I've tried to highlight a few fabrics here. It's an assortment of old and new looks, from very traditional to brand new contemporary. Take a look around and you might find just the one you've been searching for! — Libby Wilkie from An Eye for Detail
Exactly what is it that makes this fabric so popular? Perhaps it's the almost hand-printed look, or the colors, or the wood-cut quality.Whatever it is, like you, I love it.
There is something quite enchanting about this design; it's young and yet sophisticated. Love the grays and oranges together!
This linen-cotton blend (comes in three different weights) is young at heart! Try it as some kitchen curtains, or add a fringe and make throw pillows for the banquette.
I'm not really a blue and white gal, but maybe, just maybe, this could change my mind!
Charming! Birds have been a popular motif in textiles for centuries, and Galbraith & Paul does it so well here. I love the feminine, Asian-inspired look of this print.
I have a weakness for handprinted fabrics from India — I've been to the factories to sample and just adore the look. This new collection from Sasha Waddell is sure to please. They debut this month at Decorex!
Another Indian block print I love! It's so rich and strong yet easy to live with.
Block-printed linen from one of my all-time favorites: Jon Robshaw. It's a warm gray. The color, the print, the texture — all are fabulous!
This fabric is bold, bright, very positive and so right for today! Maybe it's the scale that I like so much, or maybe that it's busy but not overwhelming.
The colors of this fabric are soft but sophisticated. I can see it with avocado walls or slipcovered with a deeper blue contrast piping!
This one immediately held my attention for its simplicity and just plain good taste. How about some pillows with a magenta fringe? Yes, I would like that!
Again, a really wonderful hand print from India in a linen/cotton mix. I think an armchair slipcovered in this would be fabulous!
This pattern of random dots on silk is gorgeous! Subtle, sophisticated and luscious.
A sophisticated "all over" stripe from John Rosselli. So many wonderfully understated colors here. What beautiful and striking curtains this would make!
Here is a delightful textured upholstery choice. It's called "Backgammon" and you can see why — with spots of metallic gold in there, it's playful and fun.
How soft and sophisticated. I can see this in my guest room!
You asked for antiqued fabrics? This is it. Beautifully hand-screened with that patina that usually comes with age. Can this really be new?
There are so many prints and colorways on the Trina Turk site that I just had to quickly decide which one to include here! They're all great — fun, whimsical, contemporary, full of life and color. Here we have "Sunglass Print" in Parrot. (It's acrylic duck, making it great for outdoors.)
This is from Valentine Viannay's collection and they are all gorgeous. Rich and sumptuous is an understatement. Trained in both London and Paris, Valentine ended up in San Diego where she continues to design and produce these unusual fabrics.
These fabrics are hand screened in the United States. I love all her colors and the simplicity of each design which makes them all so versatile.
Charming! Even the name, "Petitie Maison" is charming. Simple, clean. I discovered Les Indiennes recently and love so many of their handprints.
I love the Old World quality of this Anna French fabric. The red is just the right color for me: rich without being too dark. Love the hint of musty green too.Next: More fabrics to peruse
I love the almost botanical feel of this. Very contemporary and bold.
