I have a shared a garden, an upside down "L" if you will

My downstairs neighbour owning the lower right quadrant. Does anyone have any suggestions/direction about how this could be made more private? At present it is all a grassy area. Surrounding neighbours appear not to have segregated areas. Thanks in advance!

If the garden is to be seen from above the two areas need an integrated design if they are not to look 'bitty'. Try dividing the space into four, like a chess board and treat the upper left and bottom right squares identically. They could be paved seating areas divided with either medium height walls, trellising or clipped hedging such as lonicera nitida. Keep the other squares grassed with wall climbers. The more geometric and architectural your plan the better it will work.
