Great ideas. I much prefer these ideas to the opening walls of glass which have been over done and in the process space and beautiful period French doors have been lost.

This is another way to distract the eye. Its a place we extended in Wimbledon. Although its bifold doors, the pillars have been left to create wall space and we left one of the walls with 'raw' brick. The skylight at the back is 2.5m by 1.5m which also adds a element of interest. The client has since added a sofa and coffee table in the mix.

A great article. We often encourage clients with limited usable wall space to opt for bi-fold windows but with a built in window seat at the base.
