I love a booth! Even when I'm out at a cafe, I will choose a booth over a table!
Been called to warm up a couple of restaurants - one in Parramatta one Central Sydney - both we chose to make corner booths as it was the first place diners chose ( each one had a small booth ) we added a few more - it is as the opening of the article said - a hark back to USA diners - love the variety you showed
We had one of these in the late 60s - long under the window and a shorter one at a right angle. Our parents thought it would be practical with five children, and to store table cloths etc.) A bit like airline seats - if one child in the middle or corner needed to get out, either everyone else had to move out because you can't move back, or they had to crawl under the table. And ditto when they returned. OK in a London pub, but not in a restaurant.
