@Fiona Teehan Solid carcasses are definitely not necessary. Please see any of the high end companies and none of them use 'what is termed as solid units. If there was a good benefit we would use them, just make sure the kitchen is fitted properly then there will be no problem.

Sachisnana there are different variations on a Shaker style that may help reduce the corner, ledge that you are not sure about.

I ordered a new kitchen from Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch. It has been fitted for more than a year now and I am delighted. I took advantage of one of their half price sales. The best thing about the units is that the size can be speicified down to the last centimetre. It doesn't cost any more to have a 100cm wide set of pan drawers than for a 60cm set, so if carefully planned it's possible to get a lot of kitchen for a low price. They will paint the units for an extra charge but they do not fit them.
