These spaces look as if interesting people live in them, unlike the shop window look of minimalism. If you collect a lot of objects spending time looking after them is a pleasure not a chore.

We need to be mindful of what our home means to us and what brings us joy and contentment. I have some objects I have owned for forty years. They have been in and out of fashion in that time but have endured...even if they have had long loft holidays along the way, most have at least one strange but true story attached to each of them. I am mindful as I contemplate my next move of a friend who downsided a couple of years ago to a house which is a completely different architectural style to the coach house, which was her family home for 28 years. Think Heals and Conran got married for their new striking home, everything has been replaced. ..I mean everything!! She did this feeling pressured by her partner and family to be less burdened by possession. She now feels an inability to feel connected to the new home. Visiting her siblings homes makes her feel the loss deeply as their homes are still full of possession that provoke fond memories of time spent together. My head questions my emotional attachment to inanimate objects but my heart is holding them dear. The homes featured look like they are homes not merely spaces people live in. Mind you I wouldn't want to be responsible for keeping some of that lot clean.
