Open plan living is fine if you only have a small home, but due to the fact family life revolves around mess ad cooking smells, ideally I would opt for a large living, dining kitchen and separate sitting, dining, snug and office rooms, not forgetting a laundry and a pantry! I hate the smell of lingering food.

Open plan is also good for people in wheelchairs. I care for my elderly disabled Mum and she can (almost!) access all areas so doesn't feel excluded.

Love open plan kitchen-diners, gone are the days when someone is banished alone to the kitchen (mainly women) to prepare the food. In a culture where should be promoting healthy living, a shared open area to allow youngsters to watch and learn how real food is prepared is a plus in my view. Open plan bathrooms however, particularly in hotels, is a different issue. I definitely like privacy here!!
