Not really understanding why the advice to keep a bath is being given.

Everyone that I have discussed the preference with, regardless of age, says they prefer a shower. Some like a bath for an occasional soak. We have just viewed more than 30 houses before making an offer on one. We didn't notice a difference in price or desirability related to shower or bath, many other bigger things influenced the price such as location, room proportions, etc. Things you can't change easily.

We will change anything we don't like to suite our taste once the house is ours.

Surely, if you are going to live in a property for a long time and you are re-styling the bathroom, isn't it is better to do it in the way that will suit you best? Like you probably would with the decor throughout.

Different for both of course, if you just are doing it to sell the property on.

Baths are a practical solution for families with young children. So as much as us adults prefer the ease of a shower, it's a nightmare trying to bathe a 1 year old in one. One to think about if your aiming at young families or planning one yourself.

Fay, people all over the world bathe children in showers in countries where bath tubs are a rarity. And yes, I have two children (now adults) but did my back in when lifting a toddler out of a bath tub when I was heavily pregnant - a really painful experience, and not the best preparation for labour!!
