If you are fed up with fighting over basin space in the morning, or simply prefer a his ’n’ hers approach to ablutions, the simple answer is to do the double and fit a vanity unit made for two. Choose from one big, oversized trough or two separate, matching basins and there will be big smiles and clean faces all round. Whether you go for traditional and elegant or sleek and ultra-modern, don’t forget to invest in taps that harmonise with your double basins. Then just add soap and water…
Try a mix and match approach
This floating, double vanity unit with marble basins might seem quite simple on its own, but teamed with fabulous bare bulb pendant lights, taps mounted into the frame of the mirror and eye-catching wallpaper, it becomes boldly eclectic, with splashes of real design flare.

Choose charm and elegance
If you are a fan of all things vintage, this double vanity is a dream. Shapely, whitewashed cupboards, old-fashioned taps and pretty wall sconces bring masses of charm, and then there is the clever combination of surfaces, too. Who would have guessed that a slick glass panel, marble clad walls and dark mosaic tiles would look so perfectly in tune?

Harness industrial cool
An oversized, concrete trough, suspended from the wall, is edgy, stylish and urban all at once. If you love the too-cool-for-school look, this is the basin for you.

Keep it classic
If you have the space, fitting a pair of bowls will definitely signal the end of early morning squabbles in the bathroom. Team earthy hues with pure white ceramics for a modern, natural vibe. Wall-mounted taps are key, continuing the streamlined look.

Say yes to sunken basins
A slab of chunky limestone with space for two ceramic basins to be set within it looks effortlessly stylish. The effect is slick and seamless and the basins seem almost invisible. The wall-to-wall mirrors ensure there is enough ‘me-space’ for everyone when it comes to checking appearances.

Create a calm space to share
There is a Zen-like calm and serenity to this bathroom and the his ’n’ hers basins will guarantee peace and harmony. The huge, double-ended bath is perfect for sharing, too.

Work in a little glamour
Who needs colour and bling in the bathroom when these hammered-metal, bowl-style basins add just enough wow factor on their own? Pair with an all-white scheme and subtle washes of light for an organic, uplifting ambience.

Invest in a bespoke classic
There is a beautiful, robust quality to this vanity unit that makes it more like a treasured antique than a modern bathroom fixture. The elegant mix of dark wood cupboards (with masses of space for stashing towels and toiletries), marble countertops and oval mirrors will stand the test of time, outliving any design fads by years.

Maximise an unused area
If your bathroom lacks wall space, try this trick: face-to-face vanity units plonked smack bang in the middle of the room, with a clever suspended mirror in between. This design neatly solves all the architectural niggles of awkward, sloping ceilings and low walls. And don’t you just adore the peppermint green top?

Basins are available in practical sizes down to 360mm in diameter, and with the options of deck mounted or inset they can be as much or as little of a feature as you wish/ have the space to create. Deep bowl styles provide the depth and space without the overbearing size, and combined with reflective metallics that maximise light in small rooms they can create a feeling of space and dimension.
If space is limited you might consider a domino style basin. They still provide two bowls but take up slightly less space than two separate basins, this is our Soho2 wall mounted basin
