Dream Spaces: 9 Bedrooms With Sensational Views
Knock down bedroom walls, install a row of windows... Alternatively, just fantasise about waking up to one of these fabulous views
We all lust after a glorious view from our living rooms, but there is something decadent about a bedroom that looks out to the sea, across the garden or simply over row after row of rooftops. It creates an almost otherwordly, floating above the clouds feel, and transforms the space into the calmest room in the house – ideal for sleeping, relaxing or simply watching the world go by…
Pick a hot spot
I couldn’t resist including this bedroom, with its wraparound views of rugged hills and long stretches of sea. This light-filled, sparsely-furnished boudoir is the most incredible spot for sitting and doing nothing, either stretched out in bed with a cuppa, or in the chair with cool drinks and snacks to hand. What a glorious spot from which to watch the sun set.

Get back to nature
Don’t you just adore this autumn woodland scene with its feel-good earthy palette of rust, emerald green and conker brown? And best of all, as the seasons change, the view will offer a year-round feast for the eyes, from a crisp, snowy winterscape to a flourish of spring greenery.
Mirror the natural world with a rustic colour scheme indoors, and drink in the views as you go to sleep, when you wake up or when you relax with some good tunes playing – or perhaps being played by you? (This room is far too precious to use solely for sleeping in.)

Light up the sky
If you’re going to live in the centre of a city, this is how to do seriously cool, urban living. Full stop.
The bedroom is positioned to offer magnificent views of London’s skyline, which, at night, is lit up in all its spectacular glory. The drama is echoed inside the apartment too, thanks to the mesmerising wash of green lights and carefully-placed spots.

Work a white décor
If you’re lucky enough to live in a beachfront property, then you want to max out on the views as far as possible.
Full-length, sliding windows can be pulled right back during the summer months, creating a fabulous outdoor picture that allows masses of fresh air and sunshine in at the same time.
Curtains would spoil the crisp lines here, so the owners have instead opted for a modern roller blind that can be hidden in a recess when not in use.

Enhance the peace and quiet
This is tranquility in a nutshell. With grand, airy proportions, this calm, fuss-free bedroom is peaceful as it is, but the arched wall of windows and unobscured harbour views simply add another level of serenity.
Stick to a neutral palette of buttermilk, stone and linen on elegant, traditional-style furniture and let the colours and shapes of the views take all the glory.

Breathe in the blue skies
You couldn’t fail to wake up in the happiest of moods in this bedroom. The breathtaking full-scale view of the sea and sky is mirrored by the crisp white and turquoise bed linen and striped chair, to create a clean-lined, coastal ambience full of salty air and pure living.
And even when it’s grey and rainy outside, the ever-changing vista will be far more interesting than anything shown on the TV.

Make the most of a balcony
A step out on to this bedroom balcony affords the most glorious view of the garden – the perfect morning wake-me-up.
I’m a big fan of colour accents in a neutral bedroom and in this space the flashes of chartreuse on the silk curtains and crimson – on the chair inject a spirited look that harmonises with the colours of the landscape outside.

Sometimes, a view doesn’t have to be all blue sea and skies to capture your imagination. This sleek, minimal, bedroom is elevated above the rooftops with views all round the neighbourhood.
Automated blinds add privacy and built-in ceiling speakers finish off the luxe feel, so you can sit and watch the urban landscape from morning ’til night. You’d certainly never get bored of your own four walls, here…
