How to Houzz: How to Get Advice and Tips for Your Project
There’s an almost bottomless well of invaluable advice and expert knowledge for renovations big and revamps small on Houzz. But where exactly can you find it and what should you look for?
In the Stories section we have design professionals sharing their expertise, as well as experienced interiors journalists scouring about for the latest trends, inspiration and ideas and writing about them.
So if you need advice on…
…it’s almost certainly been covered here. And if it hasn’t, leave a comment or drop the editorial team a line at ukeditor@houzz.com and let us know what you’d like to read about. We aim to please.

Two ways to browse the Stories section
1. You can either browse through the Stories tab, indicated above, and be inspired by what you stumble across (look out for the topics menu bar on the left once you’ve clicked through).

2. Or, if you have something specific you need advice on – say, ‘planning permission’, look for it as shown above, using the search box. Just be sure to choose ‘Stories’ in the drop-down options that come up.
If it’s relevant to renovating or decorating, again, we’ll probably have covered it.

Try the Advice section
Houzz is a friendly and helpful community of professionals with an incredible range of expert knowledge, as well as seasoned renovators who’ve been there or are in the middle of doing it. Join the conversation!
You can always ask questions by adding a comment at the end of an editorial story, but if you want to get help with something in more depth, or are not connected to a story, the Advice tab is where you should head. Find it next to the Stories section (which you can see circled, third photo down).

How can the Advice section help me with my project?
Start with the Design Dilemma section, where – as you’ll see – you can ask for tips on pretty much anything to do with your home, from suggestions for a new layout to what colour walls people think will go with your new sofa.

I’m using the Houzz app…
Here’s how to access the Stories section on the app – just hit the ‘Latest stories’ option (see above). It’s the same for the Advice section, just hit the ‘Latest in Advice’ option (again, see above).

How can I find out where to get or how to achieve something I’ve seen in a photo?
You’ve fallen in love with a specific design detail or piece of furniture in a photo. Good news! Generally, you’ll be able to find out where products are from – and even buy them right here – or discover what paint colour is on the walls and much more.
