At the early stages of planning any renovation project, it can be hard to know where to start when looking for a professional to hire. Perhaps you’re buying your first home and don’t have a huge budget, or maybe you need someone experienced in making the most of small spaces? Where and how do you start that kind of search? Well, read on, because all that is about to get a whole lot easier for you…
What is Houzz Concierge?
Concierge is a highly personalised renovation matchmaking service between you and the perfect professional(s) who can bring your project to life.
It’s an excellent place to start when you’re planning a new project.
Concierge is a highly personalised renovation matchmaking service between you and the perfect professional(s) who can bring your project to life.
It’s an excellent place to start when you’re planning a new project.
What’s involved?
The service allows you to chat by phone to a real person – an intermediary on the Houzz Concierge team. You can talk in layman’s terms about what kind of project you’re planning and what sort of professional help you might need.
Once that’s established, the team will then – basically – do the legwork for you. They’ll find suitable local professionals and sound them out, before introducing you only to the ones who seem like the best fit. If you agree, they’ll introduce you.

How do I use the service?
Click on ‘Find a Professional’ at the top of your screen. You’ll then land on a page that looks like this.
Type the details of your project into the white box, as seen here, along with the sort of professional you think, at this stage, you may be looking for.
Don’t worry if you’re not totally sure of all the answers just yet – once you get talking to the Concierge team, they’ll help you to fill in any gaps.

When you’re done, you’ll see this screen…
Simply chat online to arrange a good time for a phone call to discuss your project, and you’re off!

Now you’re set to talk to a member of the Houzz Concierge team, who will – most importantly – listen to what you’re trying to achieve, so they can tailor their search on your behalf.
Next, they’ll scan through all the pros in your area who may be right for your project. Then they’ll contact the shortlist and come back to you with an even shorter list – up to five professionals who now know exactly what you’re after, think they can help, and are ready to chat – and then set up a meeting, if you’d like to.
It’s the perfect and perfectly personalised starting point for your project – and it’s totally free. Good luck!

Might be easier to define a budget and some basic instructions hand the entire project over to a local internal architect/designer. A family moving into our French village did this. The entire house, inside and out, including the small garden, is now in white and grey - even the baby's cot and changing mat. Not my cup of tea, but the clients love it. And I got to uproot the 35-year-old roses and blue irises to make way for paving stones - so the living things now grace my garden.
Thank you for this step by step explanation, I'm keen to try it when I next need a professional's services!
