The 2025 Houzz UK Emerging Trends Report reveals the most searched for terms
From maximalism and wood drenching to the return of the home bar, forest gardening and daylight decorating, search data collected on Houzz during the first three months of this year* for the Emerging Trends Report gives an intriguing insight into our current interiors preferences. Read on to discover what we want in our homes and gardens right now.
2. We love natural wood finishes
You’ve heard of colour drenching, but how about wood drenching? This term encompasses the rising trend of using natural timber on several surfaces in a room, as shown in this soothing space by SS4 Architects.
Searches for “wood beams” have risen 249%, while in the kitchen, searches for “oak kitchen” and “wood kitchen” have risen by 214% and 116% respectively.
When it comes to wall treatments, homeowners are looking for “wooden slat walls” (87%) and “wood panels” (27%) and floors aren’t forgotten, either, with “wooden floor” searches also rising by 67%

4. We’re inspired by woodland gardens
Trees, water and wildlife-friendly features are all influencing our garden designs this year. Forest gardening, where planting is layered to mimic a natural woodland, seems to be a hot topic, with searches for “forest trees” up by 666%, while searches for “pond” rose by 26%.
Adding height to an outdoor space, for vertical planting as well as providing privacy, seems to be another strong trend, with searches for “garden arch or screen” up by a huge 1,049%.

We’re lightening up internal walls and doors, too, with searches for “glass wall partition” up by 202% and “internal glass door” up by 91%.
