Dark gray tones are juxtaposed with bright shades of yellow, green, and orange in this funky and fun living room. Framed white windows emphasize the view while nature-inspired patterns and organic décor blur the lines between the indoors and out. A contemporary chandelier serves as a statement piece while a white mantel and stone fireplace create a strong focal point within the room.

Renovated to accommodate a family of eight, this oceanfront home proudly overlooks the gateway to Marblehead Neck. This renovation preserves and highlights the character and charm of the existing circa 1900 gambrel while providing comfortable living for this large family. The finished product is a unique combination of fresh traditional, as exemplified by the contrast of the pool house interior and exterior.

I designed and painted the silhouettes in this soft yet bold nursery for Atlanta designer Dawn Kines in Nashville. We really loved the way the whole room turned out. It has such a wow factor when you walk into the room and yet it has a very soothing vibe as well. Visually arresting without being too overpowering. The sunlight streaming in through the white shears is lovely. This room will stay relevant for many years. The color palette is unusual for a nursery and combined with the stripes and silhouettes looks amazing. A design like this would also make a great family tree in a den, bedroom, stairwell or home office as well. A tree of your life concept. Paint colors are Sweetbriar and Green Crystal by Porter Paints. Go to ppgporterpaints.com to find a local retailer and to see samples of the colors. Hi-Hide interior flat. The stripes are 18" and 9". Would also work at 16" and 8".

Kids Bedrooms can be fun. This preteen bedroom design was create for a young girl in need o her own bedroom. Having shared bedrooms with hr younger sister it was time Abby had her own room! Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson took the box shaped room and added a much needed closet by using Ikea's PAX wardrobe system which flanked either side of the window. This provided the perfect spot to add a simple bench seat below the window creating a delightful window seat for young Abby to curl up and enjoy a great book or text a friend. Robeson's artful use of bright wall colors mixed with PB teen bedding makes for a fun exhilarating first impression when walking into Abby's room! The client knew that it was about time to get a new kitchen and replace it with the original kitchen that came with the house. However, she had already bar stools in the lime mint green color, it she wanted to implement this color into the color scheme of the new kitchen design. With the ability of Alno to provide NCS colors to their collection of the smooth lacquer door style, we had created a nice balance combination between the lime mint green color and a nice arctic white color. This amazing combination of colors gave immediately a fresh clean feeling to this well designed kitchen layout.
Door Style Finish: Alno Fine, smooth lacquer door style, in the white and green lime mint colors finish.

The walls were finished in a green Venetian plaster to bring extra light-reflection into the room. A handmade Agra rug was selected to enhance the green/blue palette and introduce raspberry / burgundy tones, thereby incorporating the clients' existing upholstered furnishings with new selections. The green & gilt-toned chandelier and sconces added additional sparkle in this lively, reflective room. Hand-painted details above the doors were extracted and rendered from photographed images of the rug. This ornament replaced a fabric treatment, thus allowing the doors to open freely to the outdoor patio.

The interior design components that make this bedroom work so well: custom window treatments, creative wall treatment, and the right bedding combined with a stylish area rug.
I've been asked several times about the paint colors in this room...
I always advise people that they should not start with the paint colors when decorating a room, because it's much more difficult to match other decorating elements to paint colors such as fabrics, artwork and area rugs. Where as paint colors can be matched to anything. The paint colors can also look different in a room depending on lighting, both natural and electric. Photos can be great starting points for deciding the color scheme that appeals to you, however, photographs typically don't depict the actual paint colors. Consequently, it is dangerous to say you want the exact paint colors that you see in a photo. What else are you putting in the room that has green in it? Artwork, area rugs and fabrics are great starting points for matching up paint colors, and you definitely want to have a design plan before you start painting color.
Here's blog post I wrote on how to ease the process of choosing paint colors...

This beautiful Victorian home was in need of rejuvenation. Using a modern soft palette, mint green and rose pink, we set a tone for the updated transitional look respective of the home’s history. Faux painter, Tom Henman collaborated with us to add special gold details on the walls and ceiling bringing in a touch of orientalism influenced by the Victorian age. Our transitional furnishings from vendors such as Ambella Home, Currey and Co, and John Richard are uniquely beautiful. It is both a comfortable and elegant living room for everyday use as well as sophisticated entertaining. A place to read a book, watch TV and play cards, which could transform easily to a lovely space for a cocktail party or holiday gathering. It is a purposeful and practical space worthy of sharing with friends and family.
